I used my Gillette Slim with it set on 9 today with a Feather Blade. It was a pleasant shave! I got probably my closest shave yet! I did produce a couple leakers around my mouth area but, nothing the alum bar couldn't stop. VERY smooth! I did get a little bit of burn. A setting of 9 make this a VERY aggressive razor. I did a 3-pass shave. You have to REALLY pay attention to what you are doing when using a Slim set at 9! I think I got my closest shave yet! I may back it off to a setting of 7 next time. The only place I got the burn was around my mouth. THAT is my toughest area. REAL smooth along my jawline. But, the mustache is closer than I got before. At least I didn't cut myself.

I should try to limit the number of passes with the blade when set this high. It sure feels nice tho! (until after the shave LOL)

Pre-shave TOBES Herbal pre-shave Gel. Colonel Conk "Bay Rum" shave soap in my wood bowl. LOVE this scent! I "Bloomed" the soap with a little hot water on top and then after I got done with the prep, I loaded the brush while holding above my lather bowl. Then I built tons of lather. After building lather in my bowl, I continued to build more lather right on my face. This brush is a good one for that. Stiffer backbone. REALLY slippery soap! Proraso small brush works tons of lather. More than enuff for a 3-pass. Edwin Jaggar after-shave balm (sandalwood) and a splash of the Pinaud "Clubman".

I may use this one again tomorrow or, I may switch back to the Fatip! I really like that Fatip! In fact, I am going to switch back to the Fatip! With Feather blade (3)

I hope all are having a fine Easter weekend!

I knew you would like that Parker 94R with a Feather blade. It is one of my favorites. It feels so nice in the hand with just the right heft. It works well with a Feather blade. Better than the Slim did this morning shave. Not bad but, I did a few too many passes and gave myself a bit of burn around my mouth. You don't just lay it against your face and drag it at this setting! LOL The Slim is VERY aggressive with a Feather set at 9.

Congratulations, on the successful head shave, Barry! The Feather as you probably remember is my goto blade for DE noggin shaves. Happy to hear that yours went so well, my friend! My noggin shave today featured a DE with a Feather blade. I'm in the process of downsizing my shave den. Can I interest you in a Kai Captain shavette clone with a full magazine of Feather Super AC blades?

Great shave Barry! I am a firm believer that wetshavers give Feathers too much credit for being an outerwordly aggressive blade. Yes, I wouldn't recommend a newbie using a Feather, but after a year or so, one's technique should be fine to be able use these blades with very little to no damage the first time out. My first Feather blade shave was with my Dovo shavette and I did get a minor cut, but I wasn't afraid of using the blade. I used a Feather in my R102 (R41) for a face and head shave without any problems. Again, it's technique that trumps tools. Have an awesome day.

    Shavette Shave # 168

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Parker SRX
    Blade: Perma-Sharp
    Brush: Ever Ready 200T
Lather: PAA Atomic Age Bay Rum
Aftershave: PAA Atomic Age Bay Rum
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block

Fantastic Saturday morning shave. Three passes with the SRX has left my face smooth and refresh. I am smelling good with the PAA ABR which has nice longevity. I will be receiving whiff of the scent throughout the day.

This was my sixth shave with this blade. I had been binned. It did serve me well. Now for some fun in the sun.

    Have a great day gentlemen.

:signs001: Jeff...Thank you for the offer of the Kai Captain shavette clone & Feather Super AC blades, but i must refuse your generous gesture as I'm now strictly a SE/DE shaver and wouldn't be able to put them to good use.

Awesome shave Hogie! You may find that your skin will toughen up if you keep it on the max setting. Also, try using a different brand of blade on setting 9 and you will still get a veryclose shave. Personally, I have used setting 7 if my stubble is under 30 hrs and have gotten a nice, close comfortable shave. However, I am mainly a full throttle guy. In your case, find what works best for you because your skin and beard type is different than mine. Enjoy your day.

:signs001: Joe.....Technique shaving confidence, and gaining traditional wet shaving experience will always trump tools...I'll have to try a R41/Feather Hi Stainless face and head shave in my future shaves...Enjoy your day.
