    Good evening.

    Shavette Shave #359
    Dovo Shavette
    Personna Hairshaper Blade (2)
    Rockwell Synthetic Brush
    Razorock Classic SS
    Proraso Green AS
    Maggard's Alum Block
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 32 hrs

My Rocky Synthetic Brush has always made great lathers and tonight was no exception. It made a nice, creamy, thin and slick lather. In fact, I exhausted this tub and gave a salute to a wonderful soap Two passes (WTG and ATG) was all I needed to get a super shave without any errors. I just have a great feel for this razor. As Jeff @jgreenepa mentioned in an earlier post, this was my very first open blade razor that started it all for my straight razor journey. Unfortunately, the green plastic insert broke in half because I have to close it at the "hinge". This constant use of bending the plastic to open and close at the same spot will deteriorate that area so that it splits. Fortunately, both sides are symmetrical that I can still place the blade in the proper orientation. I have to sandwich the blade in between the two insert halves so that the blade is secure and that I am able to load them into the razor. Hopefully, there won't be any play from the blade. I tried it on a small part of my dome hair and it seems to be fine. I think that I have another green insert somewhere else. If not, then I will have to order some.
Anyway, I finished this shave with the alum, witch hazel and Proraso Green aftershave. Have a good night.

Thanks Gary. Tomorrow will be a non shave day. However, the last shave for the month will be my sample of Stirling Barbershop soap with the Pinaud Clubman Classic aftershave. The brush will Danny's Delrin handle with the Timberwolf Brush. The razor will probably be my 15/16 Wostenholm near wedge or one of the Sons of Thunders (Max or Artie). I am leaning to my Wosty because my personal theme for May will be Maximum May in which I will mostly use my large straights that are 7/8 and up. This will motivate me to hone my 7/8 Herder Ace of Spades. Traditionally, this thread had Mayhem May, but I don't believe the current members are crazy enough to shave with a popsicle stick ala Patrick (9nein9) who is no longer on the thread. I probably suggest Mix it Up May where you are not beholding to matching the scent of the soap to the scent of the aftershave. Another possibility is to change your shave routine. Maybe go across the grain for the first pass, instead of with the grain. Finally, you can just do a regular rotation of soaps or razors. Another theme would be Menthol May where you use at least one item that contains menthol for every shave or most shaves in the month. I think this one would be a great theme as well.

Hey All, it’s been such a while since I’ve been back but I Wanted to post again. I’ve been home for a month now almost working with recruiting for the marines but I’m going back to my unit in Lejeune on Saturday. Anyway quick little update. I’ve been without wheels for a while, took the time while I was home to finally go and get a vehicle. Got a really good rate on it as well for a 2022 Toyota Corolla. Love the way she drives and good on gas. 4% interest rate! Even better. My parents are willing to take care of this insurance as long as I take care of the car payments and gas, no complaints there. Got an 8 hour drive back to base Saturday so I’m trying to make a music play list. I had to come home early a little more than expected because my grandmother passed, but that is another story. I’ve been in a long distance relationship with my current girlfriend since November and I’m so glad to see everything is working out thus far. She will be in the national guard so she goes to bootcamp this summer, wishing the best for her and I cannot wait to see her this summer while she is at her school house after Bootcamp. I try to motivate her everyday to keep doing what she is doing and everything will work out. We continue to stay loyal to one another and that is really what matters. Anyway here is today’s shave. Any updates from you guys? [IMG]

Wonderful shave Myles. Sorry for your loss of your Grandmother.

My wife and I just brought a southern villa, 2bedroom townhouse in Venice, Florida. It will eventually be our retirement home, snowbirds, once she retires.
The MOLC is fantastic. I have established a new hobby of restoring straight razors. The rabbit holes continues.

Be well Myles. Congratulations on the new car and safe travels back to the base.

some soaps melt some simply burn in microwave. This soap melted perfectly and filled the crannies in my wood bowl. Is it the high parafin in this soap? I may take a day off from shaving. I got so close yesterday that, I really don't need to shave today! It is more enjoyable when there is something to shave off!
