    Glycerin-based soap can be "microwaved".

THAT's the word I was looking for! I have read this applies to the Capt Conk hard soaps. So, I melted mine in this fashion. I wouldn't try it with the wool fat soap

I actually looked at the way I was gripping the razor during my shave this morning. My thumb and index finger flanked the razor, with the middle and ring fingers positioned together for "support".

This morning's shave was pretty much a rubber stamp of yesterdays. I wanted to make sure not to wet my face OR the brush TOO much prior to the shave. The only thing that differed today was me saying to myself "Boy, you're gonna need that second pass". I didn't do well enough along the left cheek and sideburn during he first. Not a LOUSY job, though. A cut happened at the same location as yesterday-at Northwest Porcupine Alley. No blood spatter, just like yesterday. South Porcupine and the jawline look good. No trouble down at Cactus. Nice dose of the Stephan Bay Rum A.S. followed by the Mutamayez(Oud)fragrance. Super Duper Excellent.

20 to 30 seconds melted mine. I left it sit so the liquid hardened up before taking back upstairs. You may even get by with less.

Thanks Joe....although the rinse and A.S. took care of the cut, I couldn't call it OUTTA, because the cut happened in the first place. But I feel good, clean, refreshed.

I changed my mind and decided to shave. I warmed a washcloth to warm and soften my beard and wash my face. Put hot water on the Wool Fat to submerge it for a few minutes and soften the soap. Poured off the water into my mug for face wash after shave. Whipped with my Simpson synthetic brush (Trafalgar T3) over my lather bowl and then whipped the lather in my bowl. This soap whips VERY nicely!

Wool Fat shave again with Proraso sensitive pre-shave cream. Razor was my Muhle R41 "Grande" with a Treet "Carbon Steel" blade 5th use. The shave was pleasant with no tugging so, I may try to get 7 shaves from this blade. No cuts, nicks, or burn. I think I have tamed the "Beast" ! Very close & smooth shave. My beard is not real coarse so, I can probably do 7 shaves. YMMV.

Bloom water is nice on the face after shaving. Finished with Captain's Choice "Land Ho" balm.

SOTD FRIDAY MORNING, APRIL 29, 2022

Well, my rebuilt TR6 transmission finally showed up from Utah yesterday. I’d already shipped the MG transmission to Utah yesterday. Had another fine evening of cards, single malts, and Cohiba Behike 52’s last night. SWMBO returns this afternoon. The last two days have been fun, but it’ll be nice to have the bride home. To celebrate her return today, I broke out the Tedalus Essence Barber’s razor, and loaded a fresh Feather Super for my mug shave. I noticed that the Long Island Joes had both done shavette shaves recently. So I figured it was my turn.

This razor is one of only two barber’s replaceable blade razors that I use regularly. With my eyes closed, it shaves exactly like my best-honed traditional straight razors. In fact, this and my Feather DX when loaded with a Feather Super serve as my honing benchmarks for my traditional straight razors. I truly love shaving with the Tedalus. Although it looks a bit space age-like, the two and a half pass shave it delivered checked all the boxes. The adjustable French Famex cagehead safety razor completed an ATG two pass dome shave that left me porcelain smooth from neck to noggin.

RAZOR: Tedalus Essence (Mug), Famex Cagehead Adjustable (Dome)
BLADES: Feather Super (Mug), Feather DE (Dome)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a heavy scrub with Argan Oil
    BRUSH: Viking Silvertip Badger
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Cremo Cooling Post Shave Balm.
