Let's face the age challenge. Some of us are much, MUCH closer to the end of our shaving days than others. As a result, we have less time than many to enjoy trial-and-error, experimentation and the thrill of the hunt. Not to be morose about it, but we need to condense new experiences into that relentless, winding-down of the clock. So, I'm asking that you share with old fogies, especially those of us who are re-inventing our shaves into the wet style, your hypothetical choice of your last soap. Use whatever selection criteria you must (and share those with us), but choose one soap you'd use as your last hurrah to face shaving. On behalf of the Order of The Silverbacks, thank you!
Ahhhhhhhhhhh, another "what's your favorite...?" in disguise! If I don't like a product, I don't keep it in my den. I won't use it. Sooooo, what ever I happen to grab that winds up being for my last shave, so be it. What ever it is, I know I won't be disappointed; not in the product, nor it being my last shave, as I know I'm going to a much better place. @TheBurgh , as you are new and not aware of my traits, I don't do favorites. Thus I kid, with tongue firmly planted in cheek, these types of threads. I know they do hold some value for newbies. If a majority of folks like a product, it can't be half-bad.
Mitchell's Wool Fat, no doubt about it. Edited to add: I treat every day like the end of my shaving days. Ha.
I might need a week of last shaves. DeVergulde Hand vintage Old Spice vintage Williams TSD Lanolin Bourbon Vanilla Golddachs VDH Luxury Arko maybe a couple of weeks...
Well heck. If I never had to buy another shave soap, this would be it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078K4613H/?tag=thshde-20
I bounce between Mitchell's Wool Fat, Saponifico Verisino, and Barrister & Mann. I hope I'm working on a puck of Saponifico Verisino Felce Aromatica when I go. The performance of all three soaps are great, with SV being the winner for ease of lather and longevity of the puck. Many of the brands that I see trending on Facebook and other forum groups are sub-par imo, Declaration Grooming, Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements, and Stirling among others. All very popular soaps, even here in the forums where people ought to know better. Just goes to show how taste in soap, like blades and razors and brushes, is very, very subjective.
I would use D.R.Harris Marlborough shave soap for my final shave. It’s an English made triple milled soap that always performs exceptionally well; also I enjoy the scent of sandalwood and cedar. I personally find the D.R. Harris shave soaps to be the best of all the British made shave soaps from the old brands of men’s grooming.
I'll have to come back to this thread after I purchase a Bill Neumann soap......I bet those are quite nice-I already have 2 of Bill's aftershaves.
It will have to be MWF. This is my favorite of all time soap, However, Tabac runs a close second. My second all time favorite soap.
Seeing these comments about MWF, I'll have to work with mine to appreciate it more. I will use it all year-spring/summer with a nice cool A.S.
