The refill seems to cost 10.90€ here. With a ceramic dish the price is a bit steep.. Kent isn't available as a refill, and with a wooden bowl it costs even more than MWF with a ceramic dish. I guess I might be able to get it cheaper somewhere in EU if I'll decide to get some. If I would buy from outside the EU, I would have to pay customs etc

That's good incentive for me to avoid Knicks at all costs until next season.

Although it's cooler today than yesterday I stuck with the Aqua Velva A.S. Good work at the loading dock for the Stoylin brush and the Central Texas Soaps tub.Any brush I use with CTS is a "CTS magnet". Course I haven't put The Clubman Pinaud brush to the test yet, or the Albion 1925. No problems today in all locations. Really well-done. No Cuts, Knicks, or Polkies. As for the Aqua Velva, cupping my hand helps A LITTLE to avoid Niagra Falls. Any "extra" AV I always try to scoop up from the sink and splash it on. For the next real warm spell here, I'll try Osage. I think that'll happen later in the week. Another Outta This World Excellent.

    good morning gents.
    fabulous frankencream shave today
smooth 2 passer with the hybrid tech, basically an rfb new with safety bars, and factory rhodium plating.
it's weight and balance are improved with the french tech handle, which has thicker walls and made from one piece of brass.
the original handle has thin brass walls and a pressed in collet.
the big simpson synthetic built a fabulously slick lather.nice menthol kick.
    twisted thayers lemon to finish.
    awesome.
have a great start to the week gents..

Thank you Gary. You may have seen me mention this, but a CTS reviewer called CTS a "Stoylin rip-off"(course he used the normal name, not my silly one).

i think most soaps are somewhat similar.the difference lies in post shave feel ingredients..and fragrance if any.;)

That's what I'd like to do in this my 65th year....be more creative with my descriptions. Kinda hard-as it's always nothing fancy with me.

Well, you just listed a few MAJOR differences, but I suppose one similarity is....they all are pretty good for shaving.

I'm in. Trying to figure out what my focus or rule will be. I really enjoyed getting back in touch with some vintage SE razors (Henckels Rapide and L'Essor) in April and am thinking of pulling out my really old Kampfe, Star, plus other lather catchers and showing them some love. They've been in storage for a couple years. Need to get some of my straights honed or touched up so maybe June will be a straight month.

    SE Shave # 253 - MICROMATIC & DARKFALL MONDAY

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip
    Blade: GEM Stainless
Brush: PAA The Green Ray 24 mm
    Lather: Declaration Grooming Darkfall
    Aftershave: Declaration Grooming Darkfall
    Osage Rub
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

Fabulous shave to start of Declaration Grooming week. Monday’s shave has been with the Micromatic-Darkfall combination for the past six months. I project that I will finish this tub somewhere around mid-summer. At that time I will pick up another tub and splash of this scent. I just love it.

The MMBT delivered another superbly close shave. The PAA Synthetic brush easily whipped up a nice lather. The brush scuttle assisted in chilling the soap with the base filled with iced water. Love the iced cold feeling of the soap on my face.

We have a dreary day here on LI which has deterred me from pick up some more firewood. I will leave that chore for tomorrow.

I hope you have a great day gentlemen.

Lovely shave kit, photos and summary, Gary! That razor at first glance looked like a Gillette Aristocrat. Nice looking tool. When I got out of the service, late ‘69, I bought a BSA 750CC Rocket 3. Even took it on my honeymoon from Philly to Quebec City, although as we were passing Newburgh, NY on the Thruway, SWMBO #1 leaned over and whispered in my ear, “Enjoy the ride, we’re getting a car when we get home!”
