Rather than hopping into traditional straights with both feet, you might want to better concentrate on expanding your DX technique. DX skills directly transfer to traditional straight razors. First see how much you enjoy a complete open edge shave with the DX. You may end up deciding it’s not for you. And end up saving some bucks better spent elsewhere! Just my two cents!

Thanks, Joe! It’s flat as a pancake on the hones, unlike many vintage blades.

When I started straight shaving 3 1/2 yrs ago, that razor was 225 dollars new. Bõkers are fine razors, but you can get a used economical line one for 100 dollars. Razor Emporium is a great company, but they overcharge on restored razors.

:):eatdrink047:..there are a couple of modern stainless razors that still draw me in..thankfully their price and scarcity bring me back to reality..:D

The problem with the Razorine is that when you use it as a shavette, you can only shave on one side because of the protruding screw.

    Good afternoon.

    Dickinson's Witch Hazel

I am getting ready for Sunday night services a shave is in order. As you can see, I have the soap in my apothecary mug. The brush gave me a nice, slick thin lather for my first pass and then I decided to make a much more voluminous lather for my second pass. My only complaint with Fine Accoutrements is that the soap is lightly scented to the point that your noise has to touch the puck to get a very faint whiff, otherwise it's a great soap. There is plenty of residual slickness so that buffing is quite good to get the stubborn stubble hairs.
Two passes gave me a nice shave without any boo-boos or redness. Did my usual postshave routine by ending with a double splash of the Pinaud/Clubman Classic aftershave. Have a great evening!
