Well, I wasn't going to shave today, but the stubble bothered me, and the irritation was gone, so I did. However, I used a mild razor.

My Tech, made in England, with an aluminium handle, hadn't seen use in months. Now was a good time to give it a go, so I loaded a fresh Shark Super Stainless in it, which I have never tried before, and shaved.

I can tell you that the Shark is not the sharpest blade out there. Reminds me of a Derby Extra. But I can get good shaves with Derbys, and apparently with these too! Maybe not the ideal blade for this razor, but the combination did get the job done. I got a weeper, but that is on me. The Tech is so light, that I probably unconsiously used pressure. Still, zero irritation and a good shave!

This Tech would probably be a good travel razor. I'll probably get something new, easily replaceable and inexpensive for that purpose. I paid only 7€ for this Tech, but wouldn't like to lose it.

Also I made a very low budget and low effort photo background setup. I'll have to tweak it a bit, but at least it's already better than what I used previously.

    Have a great day, gentlemen!

The shave went well with the Feather DX. I didn't do any cleanup with a DE. I got fairly a fairly close passable shave. The MWF was nice as usual. I did a 3-pass shave. I didn't get as close on my neck as yesterday. I even pulled out the japanese style shavette with a light blade to try. I put it down...the alum bar set my face on fire! I am not ready for that light blade yet. But the leaks were minimal and only a couple that needed leak stop. I have an awkward time trying to hold the razor to do against the grain on my neck! I tried to do the whole shave with my right hand but, that didn't work out. My lip was really nice and close with 2 leakers.

I will continue working with the DX all this week. This will take some time.

The way my face feels now, I may have to switch to a DE for a day. I hate to stop shaving with the DX though. I want to get proficient with it! The road is off to a rocky start but, passable. Excellent photo Daniel.

I picked up the japanese style shavette with a light blade and cut my lip as soon as I put it against my face! Yes, I do need to concentrate more so I do not apply ANY pressure. I think that is why I got a few errors. Under the nose is a tough spot!

Awesome shave Daniel! Did a nice job on the background.

There is no shame in switching back and forth! I think your start with the DX is going quite well actually. When I tried an open blade (Parker SRX, takes half DE blades) I cut myself more than you have.
    You can do it!

Thanks! I'll try to improve my photos more. I could always use my DSLR, but I'm too lazy to do that on a daily basis, so I'm sticking with my phone, and trying to work around it's limitations.

That's pretty good considering that you are still new to shaving with an open blade!

That's a nice shave Hogie! I would suggest on practicing with a butter knife to shave with 2 hands to get more comfortable doing so. Lather like you would do for a real shave and swipe the lather with the knife. This will help to speed up the process on using 2 hands when shavette shaving.

Thanks, Joe! All that was needed was a shoebox, a large sheet of paper and a stapler. And a light source. Not the most beautiful setup, but it cost almost nothing.

I use a Nikon Coolpix A900 to take my pics and then edit them in ACDSee software. I hate using my phone. Camera takes better pics.

Yes, the face has already calmed down I have applied balm a couple times to affected areas. That cools it down nicely. I will continue the adventure!

I definetly agree with you that a camera takes better pics. Larger sensors, better optics and more control. I have three DSLR:s (nothing fancy), but it takes a lot more time to edit the photos with a computer and upload from there. Maybe if I had a camera with bluetooth, or wifi, I would do things differently.

I edit my phone shots with snapseed and send the photos to myself, to compress them. A lazy way to do it, yes, but usually decent enough for this purpose.

I made a last-second aftershave switch for this morning's shave. This is the beginning of a warm spell here, so I reached for Clubman Gent's Gin.As for the shave itself, I did a 60-second swirl with the Crown King brush. As I began face&neck painting, I quickly said "Yer gunna need more fresh soap". I got a little more for the 1st pass, and another 0:30 worth for the second. It was a fine shave overall. No cuts, no Knicks and 2 polka-dots. A Knick is a polka-dot on steroids. The Gents Gin provided that "cool" feeling, a much better choice for today. Closed with Passion 4 Men cologne. Most Excellent.

Very nice shave, Paul! The Gents Gin aftershave sounds interesting, I've been curious about it for a while.

It was my first of the "new" Clubmen A.S. The only one that is made for warm/hot weather; It isn't as cold as Aqua Velva or even Skin-Bracer, but it's nice enough.

Very nice shave evaluation, Paul! I wasn't getting enuff "Leakers" so, I switched to the Feather DX to improve my skill with open edge razor. Most leakers can be tamed with the alum bar so, I guess I ain't doin' too bad! LOL

Whatever works is fine by me. I just use my camera phone and it has an edit function to crop my pix so that I can make it less than 1MB.
