I haven't had much time to work on some projects lately because of a bug during the past week, but I finally got to these three brushes for @Jorvaljr yesterday. First pic before, second pic afterwards: unknown travel brush, Rubberset Gillette brush and unknown brush with what appears to be a pewter ferrule. The first two I installed 16mm boar knots. The last brush was too big for a 16mm knot, but too small for an 18mm knot. So I figured why not go as big as I can. It now has a 20mm cashmere synthetic installed on it.............
I believe the 1st travel brush is a Plisson. It would have originally had a water transfer decal on the outside tube. Unusual that the original knot appears to be a boar bristle knot. Edit:
I did an image search on travel shave brushes, but the one I did for Jorge doesn't have a small vent hole. And the cap has a slightly different shape. Still possible as designs change over the years.
Probably not a Plisson then, if it doesn't have a vent hole. That is definitely something I would expect to see on a better manufacturer's products.
Compared to some travel brushes I've restored, it seems of better quality than most. The metal is thick and at least the parts screw together rather than press on. If I did get a Plisson travel brush, I could make a decal for it. But they will come off with use, but that's normal.
