Agreed! I like Lord Platinums too. I have a tuck of Big Bens that I'll have to try as well. I have used them in the past, but can't remember if they are good or not.

Thank you, Joe! The R41 is certainly capable of delivering a very close shave.

A very good shave today, with the Osage Rub A.S. being the star. With the Albion 1925 brush, it's hard to see the shave soap, but you can eventually figure out that the brush does look a little different than before the loading begins. Nice job overall on the cheeks&sideburns, although there is a tiny speck of astroturf on the right sideburn area. Both sides of Porcupine Alley came out great. A bit missed at the jawline(bordering Porcupine and Cactus). Pleased with Cactus itself, although I'll be watching to make sure I don't make Ingrown Swamp larger and wider. 2 healthy passes. Osage came on with that collllld(BRR)sensation, and I wondered if it was too early to use, but it's a lovely A.S. I feel nice and fresh and clean all over (No, I didn't do Osage on my head, which many do, I suppose). Outta This World Excellent.

Thank you, I enjoy these bottles in particular, I assume they were never opened before until the day I used it compared to some of my other bottles, for some reason the scent is much fresher and stronger from these bottles.

Nice Paul. You still have your safety razor that was piffed to you? Your carts are causing your ingrown hairs. I know you had problems loading the razor in your safety, but using a small magnet to pick up the razor blade may be the trick. I really think you should go back and try it.

good day gents.fantastic citrus shave this morning.thought i would give the tech hybrid's older brother a run for a bit.smooth efficient shaver like the hybrid, slightly different feel due to the open comb.same french tech handle.this rfb version is from 1945,so the last available version, nickel plate instead of silver plate, and the later tech design cap.also has thicker teeth on the baseplate than it's earlier pre war models.
lovely citrus lather built with the razo-rock synthetic and captain's choice bowl.fine splash to finish.awesome.
    have a great day everyone..:eatdrink047:

I wonder how something like a Twig razor would work. Or even a single blade disposable, if loading the razor is difficult.

But of course those cost money, and it would be the easiest option to try the DE first. Maybe a different strategy for loading and handling the blade?

    Just thinking out loud.

I'm sure it's an excellent razor, as most vintage Gillettes tend to be!

SOTD THURSDAY MORNING, MAY 12, 2022

Felt the need to scratch my skinny straight razor blade jones itch this morning. Thought I’d give a shout out to Texas based EBay vendor, “Philortx”. I've bought a number of razors from him over the years, and have found that he always undersells and overdelivers as he did with this little beauty! I like the A. Witte brand and skinny-bladed straight razors. For $12 I’m one happy camper.

Reset the bevel last night as I do with all new straights and worked through my Shapton Glass progression finishing on the Suehiro 20k. Then I restored the lettering on the scales. This morning’s mug shave proved to be a delight. I really enjoy skinny-bladed straights, and this little Witte was nimble and highly maneuverable. Two and a half easy passes left my mug baby smooth.

The Leresche 77 has what looks like an enormous gap to the new wet shaver, but the head design of this remarkable little safety razor always delivers a very efficient, yet smooth noggin shave. Loaded with the smidge wider Kai DE blade maximizes it’s efficiency. The razor is surprisingly hefty yet well balanced in hand, and delivered a velveteen two pass ATG noggin shave for the record books. I’m smooth as a peach from neck to noggin!

RAZOR: A. Witte “Over the Top” 9/16 (Mug), Leresche 77 (Dome)
    BLADE: Kai DE (Dome)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a heavy scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE LE #007 Knurled Aluminum Handle Hybrid Knot
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Pre de Provence Bergamot and Thyme AS Balm.

No problem, my friend! Just having fun! :D The TR6 work is driving me up a wall. It’s much easier for me to get in there and do things myself, but my overprotective son and grandson won’t have it! I’ve already finished a bottle of my son’s favorite Glenfiddich 18 during the course of this week, but the bugger just went out and replaced it. Oh, well, I guess it’ll get done eventually! :angry017:

If I don't do it myself, it don't get done around here! I got the mower out and mowed the grass, wash said mower, and then washed the bike. Bike is now ready to be coated with bugs again!

Too bad you already have the Parker Adjustable, Barry! I was thinking of PIF’ing you mine. Glad your shave went well! Must be that green tea you drink! ;) My Supply V2 and Schick E Type have really spoiled me! I get a much closer shave with them than with the Parker. Maybe it’s just my particular razor. My grandson bought it for me while I was recuperating in the rehab hospital. But we do agree that injector razors are fabulous shavers! Enjoy your day my limey pal! :)

Terry, it’s great to have you back posting! I use the Feather Super blade in my AC safety razors as well as my Feather DX and Tedalus. It’s probably almost a requirement for those Kevlar whiskers of yours. Glad you’re enjoying the new razor! Many happy shaves with it!
