It’s definitely warming up as the days pass. Not much to report today, other than another superb mug and noggin shave featuring the Smith Bros. 11/16 straight and the Leresche 51 Lux safety razors respectively. Work continues on the TR6. It’s quite slow and aggravating having to wait for my son and grandson to return from work each day so we can recommence work. Oh well, at least I’m porcelain smooth from noggin to neck!

RAZOR: Smith Bros. of Boston 11/16 (Mug), Leresche 51 Lux (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a heavy scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: BG Custom 22mm Two Band Badger
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Krampert’s Frostbite.

    Beauty of a Dorko Tom!

Today’s shave was to assess two new and unmarked Mikawa nagura. Verdict? Both koma grade in fineness, the 143g striped one is harder and slightly slower, the 182g white one is a little softer and faster. Both are pure and delivered a very respectable shave though a good tomo would be a little better.

The razors were Cape 1000 and the soap SMN lathered with a SOC boar. AS was Myrsol Agua Balsamica.

    General Announcement:

Fir those of you who are interested, one of the reasons it has been so hard to contact Sergej of Rigarazor is because he is ill. I don’t know how serious his illness is, but the person who answered my email was named Andrej and sounded like he didn’t expect Sergej to return. I had emailed him about a Saito SK1 replica which Sergej had indicated he could pull off a year or so ago. Andrej did not appear as confident.

Felt the need to scratch my skinny straight razor blade jones itch this morning. Thought I’d give a shout out to Texas based EBay vendor, “Philortx”. I've bought a number of razors from him over the years, and have found that he always undersells and overdelivers as he did with this little beauty! I like the A. Witte brand and skinny-bladed straight razors. For $12 I’m one happy camper.

Reset the bevel last night as I do with all new straights and worked through my Shapton Glass progression finishing on the Suehiro 20k. Then I restored the lettering on the scales. This morning’s mug shave proved to be a delight. I really enjoy skinny-bladed straights, and this little Witte was nimble and highly maneuverable. Two and a half easy passes left my mug baby smooth.

RAZOR: A. Witte “Over the Top” 9/16 (Mug), Leresche 77 (Dome)
    BLADE: Kai DE (Dome)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a heavy scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE LE #007 Knurled Aluminum Handle Hybrid Knot
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Pre de Provence Bergamot and Thyme AS Balm.

My son commissions into the US Air Force as a second lieutenant early tomorrow morning and graduates with his aero and astronautical engineering degree from Purdue tomorrow evening. So, a fine close shave that will last all day was called for tonight. It’s a special day :)

What better choice than my new Heljestrand MK32 newly arrived from Glen @gssixgun at my son's housing this afternoon. A Swedish razor finally enters my den and it delivered a lovely shave just minutes ago. :happy036:

Congratulations, Karl! My sons joined Marine Corps ROTC despite their old man’s urging against it. My son were the 5th generation of US Marines in my family! You should be very proud!

A very special day indeed - congratulations to both you and your son! Sounds like the Air Force is getting quite the young gentleman and officer.
