Excellent shave John! Jason made some unique brushes, but unfortunately, I didn't pull the trigger on getting one. Jason hasn't been on this thread in a long time. I wish him well.

Fabulous shave, John! We miss Jason around here. He built a great brush for me! Glad the shave went well, but unfortunately, many good things do pass!

yes sir.my apologies.i thought the short handled one ,z-1 i assume was a british one.if they are coded they are u.s ones, and easily dated.:).the early one was around from 1950 -62 with that logo one the cap.some 53-5 caps were odd metal due to brass shortages during the korean war.

Thanks Joe...the cut didn't cause much damage, and I made sure to put a good amount of Aqua Velva over it :).

I'll be searching for a new barbershop soap probably some time next year.

Thank you Joe......I think for shaves in this hot weather it's time to pour in a Stoylin Frost Drop or two for soaps(except the glacial I have). CTS did me a fine job today, as always, but even their River one wasn't "cool" enough. It's a good soap for Aqua Velva, though.

    Good evening!

    Straight Razor Shave # 367
    7/8 Henckels Friodur
    JR #290 Cashmere Brush
    Cella SS
    Stirling Bay Rum AS
    Maggard's Alum Block
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 32.5 hrs.

I just love Cella. The scent has quieted down, but Cella makes a very slick lather.
Two pass shave w/o touchups gave me an error-free near BBS shave.
I hone my straights with lapping films and this razor is still sharp after 19 shaves. Did get some singing from the alum on my neck, but nothing crazy. Applied the witch hazel and splashed the final drops of the Stirling Bay Rum. Take care.

Thank you Gary! The Henckels Friodur places 3rd behind Max and Artie. I bought this vintage razor (1950's) as a NOS with plastic coffin and plastic sheath with original paperwork for 90 dollars 3 yrs ago. Now, a mint or NOS 7/8 Henckels Friodur is well over 100 dollars. Last time I checked, I saw one for 125 awhile back. I have to see what the current asking price on Ebay or Etsy.

    Sorry to hear that Joseph.
    I ride the cap religiously.
I will admit it can be difficult, but when I miss aline my razor, I normally go to much cap.
To much cap doesn't hurt, it just doesn't shave.
But I'm glad you got your shave on.
