Bummed out at the moment. While I was setting up for the photoshoot, the shaving bowl above fell out of my hands and knocked off the table a NOS Old Spice aftershave bottle which exploded into pieces, soaking the carpeting. At least my room will be smelling good for days to come.

A relaxing Sunday morning shave.

The OSP Grapefruit & Menthol cream provided a great wake up call to my face sensors this morning.

Another close comfortable enjoyable shave with the Schick I1 Injector with no errors to report...Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Nivea Men Fresh Kick ASB.

My face is feeling cool, smooth & smelling divine.

When my brother Fernando makes soaps and aftershaves he puts all the right ingredients in them and a lot of love. His Frosted Lavender soap smells absolutely magnificent, the tallow formula gives it such fantastic lather that’s so thick, rich, as well as mega slick and protective, the menthol sensation is so intense that it competes with any of the Stirling Glacial soaps, and the skincare is brilliant. The Prep is so soothing as well as moisturizing, and the Frosted Lavender aftershave is witch hazel based so there’s no burning or stinging from it, it has the same gorgeous scent as the soap and it’s a menthol atom bomb. Three passes left me ultra BBS - this was one of the best shaves I’ve had all week!

Freshly honed, old wedge razor, this morning. This is a test razor, to see if the steel holds up, so I have 6 days of beard to test it out on. I had a good, first pass, with this old Sheffield Wedge.; The second, ATG pass was smooth as silk. I ended up with a BBS shave, with only a minor touch-up, on the chin. Shave one done. I will do a couple more, before sending it back to the owner. BTW, I am not real fond of Wedge razors, but this one did a fine job.

Brush- @oscar11 Special. Synthetic knot

Sunday injector shave, May 22nd 2022

Razor : Yaqi V2 Excalibur AC 50mm- 2021> excellent tame mid range, simple design, I receive really close shaves with this razor. Top cap might need a manual adjustment for alignment -not big deal for that simple adjustment.
Blade : Schick proline P30 (1) sharp & smooth with reasonable longevity.
Soap : Razorock Santa Maria del Fiore, nice mild vanilla and young tobacco scent with excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi deep rocks 24mm boss knot- excellent lather generator, heavenly cloud like soft tips, nice gentle scrub + excellent painter.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave :Razorock Santa Maria del Fiore+ a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results :CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers= Excellent shave with my Yaqi V2 Excalibur 50mm with a Schick proline P30.

This morning’s shave featured two tried and true shaving tools. My mug shave featured a traditional vintage Sheffield wedge style straight razor by Henry Hobson, brought back into service by Len Curcuruto. I purchased this razor about a year or so ago from Len. It was advertised as “shave ready”. In all honesty, I was a bit skeptical, as I’d received another wedge from another individual represented in similar condition.

It wasn’t even close! This razor arrived with a buttery smooth edge along with instructions for maintaining it! The only spooky thing about shaving with a well-honed wedge versus a hollow ground is the silence! It shaves beautifully, but without that “Buttering Toast” refrain I’m used to with my hollow ground straights. Three passes with this very capable razor left mesmooth as a peach.

My preference in safety razors are SE’s, but there are a few vintage Gillettes like any of Gillette’s second generation of blade holders that never fail to delight. Double and Single Rings (first generation Gillettes) shave effectively, but except for the first generation Big Fellow, come in second to any of the Gillette “New” models. My 1930’s Gillette New LC Deluxe took no prisoners and totally eradicated my noggin stubble in two very smooth ATG passes leaving me velveteen smooth from noggin to neck!

POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Krampert’s Frostbite AS Splash.
