Very true. I get chastised for recommending this, but shimming an Old Type is the way to go.

Lovely wedge shave, Joe! I’m thinking about breaking out the Edgar Allan Poe Stubby! That’s always an adventurous shave!

Puzzled for a second at what I said wrong, but now I see. I must have confused it with Vetiver DE Guerlain.

@Hogie I made this video of today's half pass especially with you in mind. It's only 2 min long. The way I approach the jawline is advanced, but it gets me smooth. I wouldn't try it right now, but leave it on the shelf until you have truly mastered your DX. I don't always do it because I don't need to get a BBS shave every time out.

    Tues May 24 2022 - MWF May

Razor - Henson Medium / Israeli Personna Super Platinum (1)
    Brush - Simpson's Chubby 2 Synthetic Bristle
Soap - MWF in Kent beechwood bowl
Post - cold water rinse; Portland General Store Black Willow Bark toner

The Simpson's Chubby 2 did its usual stellar job of face lathering the MWF. Two easy passes with the Henson Medium DE mowed down a two-day stubble to leave me near BBS. No nicks or irritation. Portland General Store is no longer in business, but while it lasted, it made some excellent all-natural face-care products, including a rather nice pine scented shave jelly. The willow bark toner was one of them. Not the greatest scent in the world - musty bark - but a good acetylsalicylic acid skin cleanser.

    Overall a quick decent shave.

Great shave John. Just to let you know, acetylsalicylic acid is the chemical name for aspirin. Salicylic acid is the exfoliant that is used to treat acne and cleanses the skin.

Thanks Joe! I used this technique when I did my first video shaving with Artie awhile ago. Sometimes, shavers have a hard time going from the ear to the nose shaving the jawline with the toe facing the ceiling. Personally, I found doing it with the toe facing the floor much easier.

Right. Good point. I knew it was one of the two but couldn't remember which was which...
