I do about the same thing with the DX. I get REALLY close on the left jawline (just below the jawline) but, the right is harder due to how beard grows. I need to come across and along just below the jawline to get this area close. From ear to chin and run risk of nicks with the DX.

I went tropical this morning with Captain's Choice "Island Time" soap. It smells like pineapple to me. The constant remains the Proraso Blue pre-shave cream.

Whipped in my bowl with the Simpson Trafalgar T3 brush.

Razor of choice is the vintage Gillette from early 20th century (1918-late 20's) open comb brass with an Astra blade (1st use)

Washed face and applied hot washcloth to the face before applying the pre-shave and shave soap. Island Time is nice smell.

Shave was very pleasant with no cuts, nicks, or weepers. Very minor feedback from the alum bar. This razor actually seems really mild to me. No pressure at all for really close shave even on my right jawline very easily.

Washed face again with brush squeezings.

    Proraso AS to finish.

I am tempted to use this razor again tomorrow! :)

Photo was taken last night when I set up things for the morning.

For today's shave, I was thinking I needed a rubber stamp with the words "Same As Yesterday" on it, but that thought quickly escaped me when I noticed 3 small cuts along Porcupine Alley. They were painless, but showed up just the same. Everywhere else was fine.I thought for second to switcu aftershaves from Puig to Bill Neumann(the later being well-known as a "skin-food" product), but stuck with Agua Lavenda Puig to see what would happen with that. The cold-water rinse and the Puig knocked out one cut and reduced the size of the other two to small polka-dots. The Agua Lavenda gives off a nice scent, and again I closed with Pierre Cardin cologne. Most Excellent.

The Razorock soap says "Cool And Clean". Is it that? I ask because Clubman A.S; has a barbershop scent(as we know)and says "Cooling A.S.", but I don't feel much "coolness" to it.

It cleaned up really nice. Nice shave with it too. This razor will stay in the rotation. Not bad for over 100 year old razor!

It's the scent, not the feel.
The after shave is alcohol based.
I don't feel any menthol either.

SOTD WEDNESDAY MORNING, MAY 25, 2022

This morning’s shave featured the F. Herder 49 15/16 which I greatly prefer over the Wade & Butcher FBU. Granted it’s a more modern, hollow ground blade, but boy does it know it’s business! Three passes and all was right with the world. The Rex Adjustable wide open did what it always does and cleared away the noggin stubble effortlessly. Two ATG passes left me velveteen smooth from neck to noggin!

Tomorrow’s going to be a different kind of shave! I’ll be using a Japanese Pechika 3/8 which arrived unhoned. This morning it went from the Chosera 1k, to the Shapton 1.5k, Shapton 5k, Shapton 8k, Chosera 12k, and was finished on the Gokumyo 20k. It poppin’ hairs and styrofoam. There’s a myth out there that narrow blades are unsuited for heavy beards. I have a heavy beard, and believe that sharp is sharp, and that any well honed blade, regardless of width will cut keratin fiber (i.e. hair follicles). We’ll see!

RAZOR: F. Herder 49 15/16 (Mug), Rex Adjustable (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather DE (Dome)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a heavy scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE LE #007 Knurled Aluminum Handle Hybrid Knot
    CREAM: Nancy Boy Signature
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys WH. Finished with Nancy Boy Signature Scent Gel and a very light Alt-Innsbruck AS Splash.
