    Straight Razor Shave #370
7/8 F Herder and Sons Ace of ♠️
    Hembree/ Timberwolf Brush
    Razorock XX SS
    Pinaud Clubman Lilac Vegetal AS
    Maggard's Alum Block
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 31.5 hrs

I needed to bring out my Ace of Spades Razor to keep.my Maximum May them going. I had put this razor on the side because it needed to be honed. To say the least, the last shave with this razor was not up to my standards. It's been many months since I honed with my films. I started out at 3 microns (8K grit) doing 80 laps on one side and the same on the other and subsequently halving each round of laps until I got down to one lap. Did the same with the 1 micron (14-16K) and then used the 0.3 micron (50K+) starting with 8 laps on each side and and progressing all the way done to one lap on each side. Hit the razor on my pasted Crox linen for 25 laps, then the same with the clean linen and finally 40 + laps on the leather.

    Now for the results:

Razorock XX always gives me a nice, slick lather. Danny's @Hembree brush performs will and never had any problems with it. I purchased the Timberwolf knot from Maggard's. It's a very, soft synthetic knot that really lathers soaps well and looks great in the Delrin handle that Danny graciously supplied.
I will say that the Ace of ♠️ was shave ready, and gave me a nice, near BBS shave in 2.5 passes and without errors. However, I will retweak the razor just to make it a little sharper. I did a quick honing job (20 min) because I wanted to shave with this razor. Trust me, I couldn't shave with it prior to today's honing. This razor is a joy to use when it is super sharp.
The alum did give some feedback on my neck and splashed the witch hazel to tone it down. Splashed the infamous Veg on my face to finish this shave. I am happy that I can use the Ace of ♠️ once again. I am glad I finally got around to it. I want to thank Jeff @jgreenepa for using his Herder razor not too long ago . He unwittingly prompted me to get off my butt and hone my Herder. I am sorry for the long post, but I wanted to explain my honing method to the new guys. Have a great evening!

    SRS # 696 -PAA Week

    Rating: 5 / 5

Razor: Double Duck Twin Duck Special #1
Brush: Simpson Trafalgar T2 Sovereign Synthetic
    Lather: PAA Old Salty
    Aftershave: PAA Old Salty
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

The final shave of PAA Week goes to the Old Salty soap and splash. I received the seal of approval whole heartedly from the missus. You can not be that. You know the saying, “Happy wife, happy life.”
The scent description is not available as the soap is no longer listed on the PAA website. It is a dupe of Swedish Dream soap, which is a bath soap, that has a fragrance of “crisp ocean air”. Perfect shave for the unofficial start of the Summer.

The Twin Duck razor left my face exceptionally smooth this morning. Of course I did my usual three passes when two would have sufficed. I just love the process.

The T2 brush whipped up a nice lather in the TSD (The Shave Den) bowl created by Al Wayman of Crrek Road Pottery in Pennsylvania.

I hope you all have a great holiday weekend.
