Sunday evening shave, May 29, 2022 -- MWF May

Razor: Henson Medium DE / Israeli Personna Super Platinum (2)
Brush: JR #267 burled maple with Omega Pro 49 boar knot
    Soap: MWF
Post: alum, cold water rinse, Portland General Store Black Willow Bark Toner

The IP blade works very well in the Henson Medium DE. On its second outing, it mowed down three or so days of stubble with two passes. Near BBS. The alum stung a bit in a couple places, but no nicks, blood or visible razor burn. Overall a DFS.

I been seeing a lot of shaves here with the R41 so, I decided to use mine. It always gives me a nice close shave! I have gotten so efficient with my razors that now I only need 2 passes to get nice and smooth! Minor cleanup that is needed less and less as I have figured out the growth patterns of my beard. It doesn't grow the same on either side of my face!

The R41 glided nicely with the Captain's Choice "Land Ho" shave cream. I had not used the cream soap in a while and had to keep adding water to get my mounds of creamy lather. I had gotten used to the MWF and other puck soaps. The Land Ho gave me ample slickness so, I got no cuts, nicks or errors. No red shave cream!

I started by washing my face and warming the beard up with a hot washcloth. I put on the last of my Proraso Blue pre-shave cream. It did not last the month! I am really liking my Simpson Trafagar T3 synthetic brush but, it has a tendency to throw the cream all around the counter! LOL I got several dollops flying and even got some on my shirt and arms. Total immersion into the shave I call it. ;)

The Muhle R41 was nice with the Feather blade (4th). That blade could prolly shave me more times but, I retired it after this 4th shave. I got plenty blades. No feedback from the alum bar. It left my face nice and smooth. Nice finish with the Pinaud "Clubman".

I really like my Slim (1967). I shave with it on 7 or 9. The Silver Blue blades are nice too!

I must have over 400 DE blades now! So many that I like! LOL

My cat was not happy that I was out all day yesterday and he let me know his displeasure.

Great shave Hogie. It's the sign of an awesome lather when it flies around during application. As you noted, it is very important to know how your beard grows in order to get the smooth shaves. Enjoy the day.

Yes. I was simply trying too hard especially on my upper lip. I find that I now get exceptionally close with a simple WTG and then Sideways to the grain in that area now. Also, my right jawline is getting easier now that I know the growth direction and pull skin tight. That R41 is very efficient! No pressure at all and it shaves close. I have not found a blade it doesn't like yet!

I find that now the only time I need to do a 3-pass shave is when I use a really mild razor like my Super Speed Flaretip because it is so mild.

Heavy razors seem a bit easier to control for some reason, for me at least. Not sure why, but I'm not complaining!
    It's the current Spanish version.
    Thanks, Joe!

Nice way to close out the MWF this morning, on Mitchell's Monday. As I did yesterday, I brought the brush to the soap 4 times during the 2 passes. The brush dries out pretty quickly with MWF, and I suppose with other "soap cakes"(Williams, etc). Good job on the cheeks&sideburns, as well as North and South Porcupine, but not so on Cactus, as I skipped over too much down there. Perhaps I was so pleased that I just forgot Cactus. To paraphrase Yogi Berra "The shave ain't over till it's over".I'll do better tomorrow down at Cactus. After doing the Clubman Gent's Gin aftershave, I noticed I still have some left. Again, with Berra "The aftershave ain't done till it's done."Mutamayez was once again a nice closer. But for the overall shave, going to have to say Pretty Excellent.

Just so readers know, I just happened to use the MWF on a Monday-I won't be going to the MWF EVERY Monday.

Thanks Gary....Our old late friend Kerry was the one who said "You just never know when an A.S. bottle will COMPLETELY run out"(words to that effect anyway).
