The Norton stones are not oil stones. You need to soak them in water for about 10 minutes before use.

I was unaware that Norton stones are no longer made in the US. In any case, my reference to Norton stones are the ones made three years ago and beyond. I will have to research these new stones for my own info. Thanks for letting me know Jeff. With that said, I kind of doubt that the new Norton stones are trash. I am not doubting Glen's expertise. However, for the average shaver, I am sure those stones are fine. As you know, natural stones are expensive and most guys set their sights on synthetics because of the expense. Btw, buying a full set of synthetic stones is not a cheap venture as well. I will stick with films.

Yes, I soaked all the stones I was going to use for at least 10 minutes. I chose one of the cheep razors I got off eBay to try my hand and it turned out it is a bent razor. From my reading they can be fixed but, I think that is WAY over my head!

I do have a set of the Gatco sharpening stones and they use oil. This is for pocket knives and kitchen knives. Not for razors

Thanks, Joe! I am trying to decide what to use tomorrow and leaning towards using the Feather DX again. Either MWF or Bay Rum with Vanilla. Either is really nice!

    SRS # 699

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Double Duck Goldedge
Brush: CRD Sky Dragon 26 mm Synthetic
    Lather: Cella Crema da Barba
    Aftershave: PAA Chella Cool
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

Wonderful Cella shave as it has been about two months since I used the soap. An easy and comfortable three pass shave with the Goldedge razor. That being said, my original plan for shave 699 and 700 was to use the TI Super Gnome. Oh well, I will adjust the Gemini theme for the next shave to use the TI but stay with the same software and brush.

Hope you have had a great day gentlemen.
