it's a nice set, they command these kinds of prices if fully complete and near mint/lightly used.not many made compared to techs and flaretips.rhodium plated and nice shavers.i have british equivalents aka aristocrats.similar $$.the brits are better built and alot heavier.on a different note,it's a nice addition if you must have a top tier gillette in your collection.prices will never drop, but for shave quality only, buy a red tip..;):eatdrink047:

Using the shaver's "Pythagorean Theorem"((what counts is how you look AFTER the shave, not DURING it), I'll have to say I did very well today. My idea of trying North to South on North Porcupine Alley literally "blew up in my face" as I developed a nasty cut doing it. Maybe too much pressure, or too much excitement at trying a new approach, but I'm going back to the old way, which may have resulted in some redness, but it was never THAT bad. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. 40-45 seconds at the loading dock with the Maggard brush. The Rocky Mtn. Barber Co soap-actually it's"Shave Cream Soap"jumped on to it(the Maggard). Nice work along the cheeks&sideburns, but then the aforementioned trouble happened at North Porcupine. I got another one on the left side of Cactus. All of this happened in the first pass. Second was smoother. All right....time for the aftershave and BINGO, the Stephan weakened the appearance of both cuts. Passion 4 Men cologne to close out. Pretty Excellent.

i had an ever-ready 1912,brit made from the 1930s-40s.was a nice shaver but i gave up on gem style se's.few blade choices compared to de.and they were a pain under my nose .just my experience,no one elses.i was also quite firmly entrenched in the vintage gillette camp sop decisions had to be made..:):eatdrink047:.if i collected every type of razor i would go broke, and miss out on the sets i rally wanted.;)

Thank you Gary...and speaking of trying new things, that Clubman tub of shaving cream comes today-y'know, the brushless kind where you just dig in to apply. I hope I like it because the shaving cream CAN has busted on me twice in a row. No more of that, even if it DOES say 1810.

I have a 1956 red tip too. It's well used but, I have it cleaned up. I have to try it out soon! Maybe tomorrow. I would like to get one that has been refurbished but, they go for at least $125 so, I got a well used one instead. One of the doors has corrosion damage that cannot be removed. Got it dirt cheep tho.

it's worth every penny if you "want" a premium u.s gillette set from their pre-adjustable era.they were $10.00? up sets from 53-56.red tip shaves similar though.

Paul, no offense, but you shouldn't be cutting yourself so frequently with a disposable razor. They are designed to make sure it is difficult to cut yourself even if you put some pressure on the razor. I wish that I can see what you are doing that causes you to shave with less than optimal results. I feel for you.

Right...I don't like when shaving products of mine go wrong. I'll do a report here about the shaving cream tub.

Thanks I appreciate it, Joe. I do indeed need to be more careful. (Understatement of The Century). Course these cuts don't happen with EVERY shave.

If I like the shave, I may look for a better example.....I can't complain for $15
It operates fine. I just tossed it back into the ultra-sonic cleaner for a couple more rounds

I clean my razor after each shave and wipe down with microfibre towel

I thought I had it clean....I put it thru 2 cycles of the ultrasonic cleaner and then pulled out my guitar fret polishing pads and had at it! I think it looks much better now. Some plating loss due to the damage. Set for tomorrow!
