The Gem Featherweight is a great razor!..Mine was kindly gifted to me by @jgreenepa (Jeff) along with a Schick G type Injector, some Personna PTFE SS injector blades, & Ted Pella PTFE SS. blades for the Gem Featherweight..Don't be put off by the appearance & lightness of the GEM Featherweight, once you get familiar with it, you will be rewarded with some sublime shaves.

You shouldn't be disappointed with the GEM Micromatics....Shave with the lightest of touch,.It'll take you a few shaves to find your sweet spot. The audio feedback from these vintage ladies is amazing.

What a fine shave today! Where does the Red-Tip get it's aggressive reputation? I found it to be a VERY pleasant shave. I have more aggressive razors than this! It was So pleasant that I did a 3-pass shave even though I was smooth after 2 passes. VERY NICE!

I got up and washed my face with warm washcloth and Ivory bar soap. Then I heated the cloth with HOT water and applied to my face. I added a little hot water to bloom the soap while I applied the pre-shave gel.

Pre-shave was TOBS Herbal Gel. Soap was "Sir Hare" barber approved!.
After blooming, I poured off the water and used the Satin Tip synthetic brush to load up with soap and then whisked in my lather bowl to make THICK cream.

Razor was the 1956 (B2) Gillette Red-Tip loaded with a Feather blade (second use). I did WTG, ATG, and sideways to the grain which left me velvety smooth! Alum bar raised minor feedback. No cuts, nicks, or errors today.

Washed face with the last of the lather from the bowl and brush. SO, nice!

Applied a dab of Captain's Choice "Venture" balm and a splash of Pinaud "Clubman". Every shave should be so pleasant! :)

Awesome shave Hogie! The Redtip is considered the most aggressive of all the Super Speeds with the Blacktip as intermediate and the Bluetip as the mildest. Enjoy your day.

OK, now I see! I have 4 razors on the way now! 2 Micromatics, a GEM Featherweight, and I took the plunge on the Razorock "Hawk" in stainless. Hawk will use the Feather single edge blades.

The GEM and the Micromatics were gotten dirt cheep! But, the stainless "Hawk" was $70.

That mustache looks like that of a few early 20th Century Presidents. Great combo.

As @Trigger said, at the time the red tip was marketed , it was the highest of the 3 flair tips. As far as Gillette TTOs go, the red tip feels "just right," although not aggressive as we know it today.

I have a 1947 Superspeed, and it feels much more aggressive than the red tip. Gillette really toned the TTO down from the early Superspeed.

Fine shave this morning. At the beginning of the loading procedure, I saw some BLACKness in the shave tub. THAT was weird. Let's see if that happens again tomorrow. But thankfully it disappeared as I continued with the loading. Anyway, I got a great amount onto the Stoylin "No-name" brush. On to the shave. Great work alongside the cheeks&sideburns. Ditto South Porcupine and Cactus. That leaves N. Porcupine. I didn't handle yesterday's cut carefully enough and it came back today. I've concluded that I may indeed have to get a mustache growing up there. Then again, the last couple shaves have been with "Shaving Cream Soap", so let's see how regular shave soap handles it. The other option is to go REAL SLOW up there, like @Trigger's buttered toast. This is just on the left side of North Porcupine, not all of it. Good on the jawline, all the way across. Osage Rub AS felt real especially good today-perhaps because it covered the fresh scented Rocky Mtn. shaving cream soap. Fresh upon Fresh. Passion 4 Men cologne topped off a Most Excellent shave.

    Semogue OC Super Badger Brush
    Cella SS
    Old Spice AS
    Maggard's Alum Block
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 40.5 hrs

I haven't picked up my Semogue Brush in awhile.. It is a soft Brush, but it does hog lather. I lightly load the brush and paint the lather. I repeatedly do these 2 steps and add water to get an easy, slick lather. I believe that I had the best shave with this razor. It easily just took off my stubble. After one pass, I had a near BBS shave. The second pass and minor touchups gave me the baby. Did get a microdot weep (size of a period on the end of a sentence on the right corner of my mouth. Hit it with cold water rinse and it was fine. Alum feedback was a little more than usual, but it was bearable. Witch hazel and the Old Spice splashed on my face and neck topped the shave. Although I have had fine shaves with this razor, I am pleasantly surprised with it giving me a fantastic shave with very little buffing. Have a great day!

    SRS # 701 - Gemini Shave

    Rating: 5 / 5

Razor: Wester Bros. 6/8” 33 Fraternity
Brush: Leo Frilot Custom NYR 26 mm Synthetic
    Lather: Stirling Electric Sheep
Aftershave: Stirling Electric Sheep - Glacial
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

Another beautiful top 10 weather day here on LI with comfortable temperatures and no humidity. A near perfect day for an Electric Sheep shave. First and foremost, the missus enjoys this scent although she had already left for work before my shave.

The brush, a custom made by Leo Frilot, was selected for today and tomorrow’s shave as my beloved New York Rangers will have an opportunity this evening to take a 3-1 series lead in the Eastern Conference Finals. You know what I will be doing this evening.

As for the shave, the synthetic knot of the brush whipped up a nice thick lather via the assistance of the lather bowl. I very rarely face lather. The Wester Bros. Razor easily mowed down this morning growth. The post shave alum report was nonexistent. I am smelling good and ready for another fine day.

    Have a great day gentlemen.
