I know the ProGuard blades will really tame the open comb. If I do shave tomorrow, I will use the Hawk with a ProGuard. I have it loaded now. I also have the Feather DX loaded and ready for Saturday/Sunday.

I was expecting the open comb on the Hawk to be the same as any other open comb razor head I have but, it is a wild animal! I will tame it the same way I taamed the DX with a Feather ProGuard blade. I should devote a week to the Hawk for sure. Maybe I will do that next week and reserve the Micromatics & 1912 Star for the following week.

The Hawk was always a pleasure to shave with before I got the open comb no matter what blade was in it. I now know that the Hawk still has some WILD in it and will bite if I don't pay attention. This is no domesticated beast!

maybe one day.:)not really a carbon blade fan due to the rusting issues.also pretty set in my ways blade wise, did the try different blade packs a few years ago and bought many 100 packs of my favorites.nacet, most 7 oclock, platinum, gsb, and feather/kai are the mainstay and work well.with all my gillette razors.:):eatdrink047:

i have heard that many modern razors offer more blade exposure with their open comb offerings.with gillettes it was more of a cost savings in production/materials/labor ,open comb razors suffer more damage when dropped than most safety bar types.

I use those blades for 2 shaves and bin. I also remove the blade and rinse it off and pat dry before putting on my magnet. I clean the razor too. I use a marker to keep track of how many shaves I have on the DE blades. The other blades I have to go by how they shave to decide when it's time.

I started my music journey back in 2004 with Hank Williams sr. I even dress like Hank!

I had learned the basics in my early 20s but, had put guitar down for almost 20 years

This I do not know. I never cared much for Hank jr. He was a bar room music. He was OK on a few but, I never cared for much of his stuff. Hank 3 leans more towards grandpa Hank Sr

Hank Sr died in the back seat of a car before he was 30 years old. Hank long gone and it's still a mystery as to what happened. Drug overdose

Oh wow...didn't know that. The mystery should be on those "WHat Happened To." TV series.

Thanks Barry. I am strolling in Greenport. It is an old seaport town. Has many small arts and crafts stores, eateries, etc. It's similar to my town of Port Jeff, but it's 45 to 50 miles east of it. The weather is a little cool for me, but it's not raining. I will be celebrating with my friends on Sat. Today is just me time to relax. It's many months since I haven't had a day off from the gym. I don't feel guilty because I am walking and checking different stores. Went to an antique store and no razors. If Danny @Hembree was here, I bet there would be a vintage razor. He is one lucky fellow. Thanks again for the birthday wishes.
