Well, I know that for most cases, but the Clubman jar did work all right with no brush.

well, they all do in theory.just like goo.brushes remove dead skin and other nasties that the face wash didn't remove.i guess some folks get reactions/irritation from brush usage..such a soft world these days..;)

I must be honest-my first reaction to Clubman's strong advice of no brush needed on the barber cream tub was "REALLY? All right, if you say so".

the word of the day is.. but seriously.marketing gurus play the world by saying."stop using a brush..easy 1 step application,no moving required..no need for that pesky brush maintenance.ditch it,use brushless.".the lather in most cases is built with the brush as well as other stuff.clubman brushless and others require a warm body and a lather appears.1950's U.S dream."look at the new features on the lazyboy kitchen lounger.complete with fridge, ice dispenser, and free bartending attachment for a limited time only..":Ddo what You like Paul.we all know what signs are for..;):eatdrink047:

It's a great lineup Gary. You have the big brands of shaving, Gillette, Pinaud-Clubman, Arko and Semogue. You just can't go wrong with them.

I will be doing another bowl lathering tomorrow with a new soap that was piffed to me by Joe C. It's Lakewood Co. Lard Lass formula. It doesn't have a scent description, but I get a barbershop type scent from it. Lakewood has tallow formula soaps, but their Lard Lass line is a limited edition with the scents changing with a new drop. I will use the Stirling Spice aftershave because it complements the soap's frag.

It was another very nice shave with the Star 1912 and the 11th shave with the GEM stainless blade. It is starting to tug a bit so, this is the last shave with it. Overall a very pleasant shave.

Washed face with Ivory bar soap and washcloth. Bloomed the soap and warmed the lather bowl & brush. Hot washcloth to the face.

    Proraso white pre-shave
Chiseled Face "Ghost Town Barber" soap smells so nice. I also added a dab of TOBS "Almond" cream. (I'm like a mad scientist with blending my soaps.)
Brush is the Satin Tip synthetic
post shave - Thayers is getting to be a constant. Very nice aloe & witch hazel
Geo F Trumper "Skin Food" and a splash of Clubman reserve "Whiskey Woods"

I could probably shave at least one more time with the blade but, it was starting to tug a bit so, bin time! Not bad at all with 11 shaves. I did a 3-pass shave WTG, ATG, and XTG for cleanup. I did have to work a bit harder to get my jawline smooth so, the blade is getting dull. Alum bar raised minimal feedback. Nice and smooth! Skin Food is so nice for the skin.

These vintage single edge razors are really nice! Now to decide what to use tomorrow!
