It was a good week or more of shaves with the single edge razors. Tomorrow, I go back to my DE razors. Parker semi-slant. I gotta use some of them blades! LOL

    ;)

    Shavette Shave #374
    Parker SRB Shavette
Gillette Winner 1/2 DE Blade (2)
    JR # 290 Cashmere Brush
    Lakewood Lard Lass SS
    Stirling Spice AS
    Maggard's Alum Block
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 39 hrs

I have to say bowl lathering with a decent bowl has given me a new appreciation for this method. It does take longer to develop a lather, but I find that I can just paint it on without swirling and scrubbing my face with the brush. So far, the lathers have been slick, creamy and low structure which is what I want for my open blade shaves. Here is a pic of my bowl lathered soap:

Lakewood Lard Lass is a nice, mildly scented soap. It has a clean, barbershop frag. However, Lakewood changes the scent on this formula so it's a limited edition offering.

The Gillette Winner blade efficiently took down my 39 hr stubble to give me an error-free BBS shave with 2 passes and pickups.
I did get slight feedback from the alum. Finished the shave with witch hazel and the awesome Stirling Spice aftershave.
    Enjoy your day!

Terrific shave Gary! I am glad you are onboard with Arko. It really is a great performer.

I'd like to see them say that about Stoylin or Bill Neumann soaps. :). Is a "Lazyboy Kitchen Lounger" the new-wave name for "Lazy Susan"(my mom's name for the merry-go-round of meal items). By the way, back on soaps, the Clubman jar gives off a cold sensation at first, then you get the warm body '50's look, as you say.

fine shave Joe.lovely lather.looks really slick...i like bowl lathering as one can really dial in the soap before one rubs the skin of his face.it has it's merits.i face lathered for years with williams, the lather was near perfect by my 3rd pass..;)

Actually, forget my Lazy Susan story-you can't fit a bar on the thing.

thank you Joe.face rubbing smooth..is the arko in a puck different than the stick?.could easily be in my head..scent seems milder and more powdery.

Thanks Gary. You can really see the sheen on the lather which indicates that it is well hydrated. Yes, a well hydrated soap is very slick and it's easy to rinse off the razor. I still prefer face lathering because it takes less time, but I will be doing more bowl lathering because this bowl works well. I still can't believe I got this bowl at a thrift shop for just 2 dollars.

Real nice shave today-closed out the Razorock Lime Burst for the time being, and switched to Stoylin Glacial Lime A.S.Great refresher, that Glacial is, I'll say that right now. OOPS, I already said it, chuck yuk yuk. Everything checked in...good news. I went carefully over yesterday's Knicks, so as not to make them cuts. Aaah, I missed a tiny area at NW Porcupine(just under right nostril). But no other problems. Outta This World Excellent.

I can't answer because I don't have the stick. I didn't get the stick because I didn't want to fuss with it. I would assume the stick is the same as the puck. My only gripe with the puck is that the container should have been a little larger to accommodate loading the brush off the puck.

Thanks Joe....the clincher for me in giving it the grade it got was that I didn't do any further damage to yesterday's New Yorkers.

i get that.i lathered out of the container,it's a bit small.i have a stick pressed into a bigger bowl that works far better loading wise.it will all get grated together in the near future.;)
