one reason i don't load brush directly from their tubs.it can be messy, and it can potentially waste soap.;)

    Brush: Ever Ready 200T

    Humphreys Cucumber Melon Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

Another super close shave with another of my well honed straights. This shave rivals yesterday in closeness. I have been on a roll lately with the performances of my straights.

The synthetic brush made quick work of the lather. A small almond size amount of soap approximately 1 gram scooped out by a tiny salt spoon, crafted by Brent Jacobson, yielded a decent amount of lather enough for three passes and one post lather.

I decided to forgo the matching aftershave. Instead I felt like Brut would work well. It did. I have been smelling good for the past few hours.

My plan to imitate Paul Bunyan has been put on hold as it is extremely muggy today. Not to worry, it will eventually get done.

Hope you have a fine day gentlemen.

You could try using a small spoon, such as a demitasse or salt spoon, to scoop out about a gram of soap to press into a bowl. No fuss, no mess.

Ah, another one joins the fold. Welcome to the world of great shaves using the DE. Perhaps eventually you may gravitate toward a single edge razor such as a GEM or an injector. Who knows, shavettes or straights may not be to far off.

if you have any questions ask away as there are many knowledgeable people in this thread to offer ideas or suggestions, including “yours truly”.

Charlie, @wristwatchb, might contend that it may have stunted your social development with the ladies. Or was it the Tabac?

Croap is a portmanteau word which combines the words cream and soap.
Therefore, croap is in between a cream and a hard soap.
TOBS is a shaving cream. Mitchell’s Wool Fat is a hard soap. Stirling is more of a croap. I hope that helps you to understand what a croap is and how the word came about Paul.

I am happy that your technique is improving and glad that my suggestion for the Stirling Barbershop soap is a win for you. You also found out that traditional wetshaving makes the skin look and feel better which is another plus for this shaving method. As far as lathering, it takes time to get the soap/water ratio. Also, every soap is different as to how it lathers. You are doing great. Enjoy your day.
