Newly acquired, restored, and honed. Excellent 2 pass shave, that left me BDBS(Baby Dolphin Butt Smooth). Zero issues. Fine shaving blade.

    Razor- Bismarck #1. Germany
Brush- Rubberset 400 #4. Original knot.
Soap- ARKO. Super slick, and great for face lathering.
Aftershave- Florida Water. Nice light lime scent. Great for the summer heat.

The past 3 shaves have been shave #81, 82, and 83 on the Rifuto. The edge is getting worn and doesn’t shave as closely now, but no unpleasant tugging. It’s near the end of it’s useful shaving life (I think). I’m going to keep at it a bit, a worn edge like this can give you a lot of insight about how good a soap, strop secondary, etc are performing, and it takes a long time to put 70+ shaves on an edge. So I’m in no big hurry to refresh it.

The soap winner so far for worn edges has been Santa Maria Novella. This soap doesn’t always seem like it’s doing anything special, but it is. it’s slick, but the residual slickness is very good. I test a lot of stones, razors, and of course the edge life tests when it can be easier to give yourself a little nick vs tried-and-true software and edges that we all prefer for everyday use. I always get a better shave and fewer issues with SMN, and I’m sure that‘s true of fresh edges, though with a fresh edge the difference in soaps is not so apparent. I Coloniali Mango Oil is better, but long discontinued.

Another fine shave with this near wedge. Generally near wedges are harder for me to work with - I guess they just demand better attention to technique - but this one is pretty much effortless to adjust to. It’s good looking, a fine razor, and without a doubt my best near wedge :happy036:

I apparently forgot to post yesterday, 7/8 C.V.H No 140, soap was tallow D.R. Harria Arlington lathered with a Semogue Galahad, and the AS was Arlington. Great summer shave!

Today was just a little stone testing with a couple of good quality test razors, a 5/8 Genco Pyramid which is more like 9/16 after removing some heel chips, and a 6/8 Geneva Vanadium that needs some TLC from Alfredo after suffering from a light case of cell rot from the faux tortoise scales.

Cream was SMN lathered with a SOC and the AS was Harris Arlington. Great shave!

Arko and Florida Water - I take it that it’s hot in Texas (it is here in Tennessee).

It's hot. 6-7 days straight 100+ temps, with high humidity. Its been around 104-106 for several days. Today was nice and cool 99, so I spent 1 1/2 hrs splitting BBQ wood, Live Oak, by hand. It was a good workout. That wood is as tough as nails.

A well worn Thiers-Issard rattler that still shaves well was up for. frameback Friday, soap was La Toja lathered with a Semogue Mistura, and a splash of Fin IC finished up a great shave.

It’s Friday so it was natural to pull out the frameback. Although, honestly, I can’t say I’ve ever really enjoyed shaving with a frameback. Oh well, the face is smooth once again :happy088:
