Very nice bowl Charlie. I used a brush scuttle daily, however, in a slightly different format than you. I like to ice water shave. I fill the scuttle with three ice cubes filled with water. The brush goes in the insert soaking in water. After ice shower, I used the chilled brush to whip up the lather in my shave bowl of the day, I have several to choose from. The whipped lather on the brush goes into the emptied insert which is place back in the scuttle to chill the lather. It is a fantastic feeling when the lather hits the face.

    Enjoy your day Charlie.

Thanks Joe. I've managed not to drop the brush scuttle. I'll need to be extra careful with the bigger one.

I know about back pain and it's no joke Hogie. Fortunately, it's been many years since I pulled out my back. I have slight scoliosis, but these last six years of hitting the gym, I have not pulled my back. I suggest a heating pad and a very hot shower. Hope you feel better soon. Take it easy.

Here's a suggestion(though I bet you're already doing this)-everywhere you sit down today, put a pillow between your back and the chair.

Shave for Monday. Back to the "One soap for the month" & USA made razors.
Theo wanted to "help" today and was not happy I ran water on his bed! He likes to lay in the sink.

Razor - 1950's Gillette 3-piece with a fresh Feather blade
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Brush - Simpson
Pre-shave - Proraso Blue to cool the face
Post shave - Thayers Toner & Proraso balm
    Pinaud Clubman Vanilla AS

I soaked in a nice hot shower and it helped my back some. So did a glass of tomato juice with turmeric mixed in (1 TSP). Pre-heated the lather bowl with hot water and let the brush soak in it too. Added HOT water to cover the soap in the mug. I applied the pre-shave while the soap bloomed. MWF is so easy for me to get right. I shake most of the water out of the brush and dip it into the bloom water before I pour it off and start swirling and loading the brush. I push all the lather generated into my lather bowl and even scrape it out with my fingers to get it all. Then I whip it until bubbles are gone. I whip it for a minute or less. If it needs water, I add a little hot water. I like the warm lather but I temper the razor/blade under cold water and rinse with warm water.

I did a 3-pass shave just because it was so nice. Minor cleanup on my right jawline was needed and so, I got some feedback from the alum bar. Not too much tho. This razor is still fairly tame even with a Feather blade.

Alum bar gave a little feedback on right jawline. No cuts, nicks, or weepers! ;)

A very pleasant shave to start the week! Tomorrow will be the 1967 Slim!

It is Menthol Monday and it is a cloudy day on Long Island. I only have one menthol soap, but Cryogen is the most highly concentrated menthol soap on the market. I am still feeling the cooling sensations. Lol! I have to say that Evan's brush whipped up a nice lather as you can see below:

    20220718_090329.jpg
The Ralf Aust had no issue mowing my 41 hour stubble in 2 passes without touchups. I had an error-free close comfortable shave. There wasn't any feedback from the alum block so that tells me that I had a smooth shave. I relathered my face one last time to feel the menthol once again. Frankly, I had enough lather for 4 passes. Witch hazel was splashed on my face and neck to tone down my skin. The Cryogen aftershave was the piece DE resistance to get another menthol hit. I have to say that I am fully awake. Lol! Take care.

Top of the morning gentlemen. Started out this morning following a shower and ice water shave with a cup of Joe lounging in the lanai before a couple of service calls to the house by the AC and Pest Contol companies. Normal maintenance. Already warm at 7:15 AM. A flock of ducks, mother, father and about a dozen chicks came strolling by heading towards the po d across the street. May not be the safest place for the chicks as there are a few gators in the water.

I had a wonderfully close shave with the PAA Starling OC (GEM type) razor. Three passes have left my face ultra smooth. I am working towards finishing g up this soap hopefully by the end of the month. When that fateful day for the soap arrives, it will be the second tub that have met the Edmund Fitzgerald this year. Going into the year I set a goal for three soaps to meet the Edmund Fitzgerald. I might even attain four as the den reduction quest continues. Hogie’s, @Hogie, soap acquisition during the first half of this year reminds me of myself approximately 4.5 years ago as I fell into the rabbit hole of a hobby. I acquired Ed many soaps purchased as well as via raffles.
I went on a NB (No Buy) since I believe June 2020 until the February when I decided I needed to add a few soaps such as Arko and Proraso Green to the Southern Den.

Well the missus and the offspring, Anthony, have left for an afternoon at one of the beautiful beaches here in Venice. My son is lobbying for lunch at Sharky’s.

Hope they bring me back something good.

on an aside, Anthony will begin his cooking lessons later this afternoon with the master, his Papa. He will be making Penne alla Vodka.

He wants to learn to make three thing La this summer, vodka sauce, Dad’s Italian meatballs and Pizza.

    Have a great day gentlemen.

When you say Sharkies, it brings back memories of a place up here in the upstate with the same name where I would go buy a bag of 100 Littleneck clams to put on the grill after washing them. When they open they are done! Melt some butter and I was set! Used to do with family get-togethers. Been a LONG time.

Take care, Gary. Back pain is the worst. I hope it resolves quickly.

If you can make it to the kitchen, pour me a cup of coffee. :)

Thanks Joe. A cold water shave feels pretty good this time of year. Not sure if I'm ready for an ice water shave, though. May have to give it a try sometime.

I still like the Timeless bowl, though, so I may have to pick one of those up as well.
