TATRA Platinum Czech Republic A couple of members have mentioned these, but not tried them. I broke down and bought 100 for $9.99, on Amazon. Being my heritage is half Czech, I had to do it. I was very very surprised with how smooth and sharp they are. Absolutely smooth, and no harshness at all. I used it in a Gillette Fatboy.
The wife tried them today. Her legs are very tough on blades. She said it was so smooth and sharp, she didn't even feel the blade. She liked Tatra a lot.
Tatra Platinum and Tiger Platinum? Based on a comparison PIF on B&B back in 2020 ("Czech Out These Blades"), they're not the same. The Tatras were quite consistently good, while the Tigers had some issues, with some of the Tigers coming out of the tuck bent. Not a bad blade, but with the Tatras priced under $10/100, I found the choice clear, As apparently did WSC, since that's what they shipped with my Winning and 'Merica razors.
On other forums, and some comments here, most everyone seems to compare the TATRA Platinum to GSB(Gillette Silver Blues). They say they are very similar. That's a very good endorsement. I have yet to try the Tiger blades.
I'm 5 shaves into this blade, and it is still just as smooth and sharp feeling as it was on the first shave. Very very pleased.
ib says they are made in the old astra blade factory. https://www.italianbarber.com/produ...ge-safety-razor-blades-2-packs-of-5-10-blades
Shave #8 finished, with the TATRA blade. Not quite as smooth as new, but it still delivers a very good shave. No tugging.
10 shaves on this TATRA blade. It's time to replace. Not because it is tugging, just because it isn't as efficient as I like. It is still very usable.
I'm liking these blades. I bought a single pack to try them out, and I've gotten pleasant smooth shaves from my Henson AL13 and from my vintage Gillette Red Tip. Seems like a winner -- there's probably a 100 pack in my future soon.
first shave went well, nice blade.felt like i was using one of gillettes 7 oclock blades.not nacet sharp.
