Wonderful shave, Gary....You have mastered the Featherweight...The deceiving problem with the Gem Featherweight IMHO is it's "feather-weight" pardon the pun, and your tempted to add more pressure when shaving with it, or any other light razor as a matter of fact! which as we all find out leads to cuts, nicks, or weepers, but that's all part of the fun & pain when we are learning our technique. Good news that your back is on the mend..Those GEM Personna SS are amazingly good blades. Yours-Barry.:happy088:

Yes, this is exactly what happened to me. Razor is so light I applied some pressure and it bit me several times! I now let the razor do all the work and it shaves like a dream! :)
It would be so easy to make this razor a daily shaver. I do seem to prefer the SE razors. Especially the vintage ones.

    Thanks, Barry!

Good to hear from you Charlie.....I'll definitely try that experiment with the BB container. I'll keep it off the patio though.....don't want to anger the birds who love my feeder. To paraphrase that politician-"Beau Brummel...you're NO RISE" . I'll try a couple shaves with it just to see if I can handle it. I'm doing well, but I need to be careful and lose this fall nonsense. My mom had some bad falls near her death-is her son next? Ahh, if I'm hospitalized, maybe I'll get assigned a therapy dog or two. As for UPS, I'm taking it easy on shave orders for a while, but I have plans for the fall&winter. Great you plan to be with the "kindies" once a week.
How's Cathy? Beside all thjs, I have nothing to say :Animatedfrozensmily:

    Greetings, gents!

I've been quite busy, and haven't been at home much. I've spent quite a bit of time at Tampere. Just got back home last night.

DSC_0373-01.jpeg This setup is what I've been shaving with for a while now. Works quite well for travel. Not the most exciting setup, but functional.

Tonight I will shave with my Fatip. Haven't decided on other gear yet.

    Have a great day, gentlemen!

Good one, Gary I should break out my Pineapple scented soap (Captain's Choice "Island Time"). I been trying to stick to the one soap this month and have put a serious dent in my MWF. And USA made razors.

thank you Gary.very cool.i like to do a mini focus once in a while.i did the one razor/one soap deal for 35 years..:D.but seriously most gillette shaves are quite similar with great results so no real need to use one and master it anymore.i still dial techs in once in a while as they are mild and have a narrow sweet spot.,my soap/splash choices are based on scents and mood of the day.posting the pics is fun also.:):eatdrink047:

I am still mastering a few of my razors. The Featherweight GEM was a monster on my first use. I used pressure and that will make it bite. Now, it is almost as nice to shave with as my Star 1912. Lots of feedback. I have it mastered now. I need to re-learn the slants now. The last time I used the Parker semi-slant, it bit me! I thought I had tamed that one! LOL.

I guess I ain't doing too bad tho seeing as I only started wet shaving with DE razors last September (2021). I have come a ways since then.;)

very cool.you have made great progress.you are also going back and forth with a few different types of razors.ei gem vs slant vs injector type blades, which all have different shave characteristics.i decided to stay with gillette (budget constraints)DE around 4 years ago and passed on my SE items.i have a g "66" injector and a brit valet gc3 oc as "for a change" razors.they are nice but a pain to get blades for/change blades/clean/maintain etc.novelty at best these days ,but they give great shaves.i had chosen gillette for simplicity and blade availability, plus i had committed to collecting vintage sets by then and had over 100 razors.was getting the eyeball from the wife..;)

Yep! If I was still married, it would be same here. I was married for 18 years.

I started with a Gillette back in 1975 when I entered basic training in the US Army. But, I had switched to the 2 blade carts soon after. Then, I got married and my wife who was 11 years my junior said I looked younger than her so, I hadta grow the beard. Had beard for 18 years almost. When I retuned to the carts, I hated them! I got used to banging them on the sink to clear them as they clogged often. I was not worried about hurting the sink becuz them things were plastic holders with 2 blades.

Once I discovered this wet shaving world, I started really enjoying the shave like never before. I hadta try different things and I am glad I did. The Hawk is a great razor and I can shave a week on a Professional blade. But, the Star 1912 and now the GEM Featherweight have shown me exceptionally nice shaves. I guess I like the variety. I am still looking for a nice Lather Catcher that doesn't break the bank. I am impressed with the GEM Personna blades longevity.

I do tend to go all in when I try a new hobby. LOL

very cool,i have similar traits when collecting stuff.:D.i had 6 different 67-72 GMC truck variants at one point.i reminded my wife a while back on how expensive car collecting and restoring/hotrodding was.which i no longer do.she saw the light almost immediately;).i am glad you are trying out different stuff, where i didn't so much.i used gem type blades in my profession for years, and injector razors look too much like carts for me.there are 1 or 2 other razors i would like to try but i'm not prepared to shell out big$$ for them.there would be little to no shave benefits at best, mostly just pleasing to the eye.:):eatdrink047:in short, vintage DE cured my ingrown whisker problems and i can shave daily with comfort, the many different gillette handles keep my "bored with one" AD in check.:D

My face is super smooth. I am on my way to Game 2 of the Subway Series at Citifield. Joe, @Trigger, the Mets Mad Max is on the mound tonight. Going to be an electric atmosphere and a good time.

    Enjoy your evening gentlemen.
