Great shave Danny. You were smart to demonstrate patience with the razor head challlenge.

Thanks Joe. I did not need to fumble with it at 6 this morning....I could see bad things happening. I actually rested the top cap on a wash cloth on its post and then pushed down on the base plate....no give. This thing acts like it it glued together.

Great setup Ken. The Fili 14 is my holy grail razor. Unfortunately, they are priced beyond my budget.

I was a little scruffy this morning at the LI 30 DC Chapter, but it was just under 24 hrs and I don't usually shave that soon. While it's late afternoon, I figured that now is the time to shave.

Razorock XX has always given me a great performance and it lathers quite well as you can see below:

Did a 2 passer with a minor touchup for a nice, near BBS shave.
I made sure my technique was on this afternoon, therefore, no blood was lost.
The alum feedback was negligible so that's always nice. Finished the shave in my usual manner. Have a great afternoon.

I got one of my prizes from the latest TSD raffle. It is the Van der Hagen Shave Soap.

    20220808_163301.jpg

It's a very nice budget soap that lathers easily and has a nice, clean smell. This was very first shave soap brand when I first started this journey in Oct 2018. At the time, I used their Luxury Soap which I would think it wouldn't make much of a difference, but we shall see when I use it down the road. I will only bowl lather it because it comes in a plastic container and doesn't leave any room for the lather overflow. Moreover, I just got my tracking number from my Shave Den order; courtesy of winning a 50 dollar gift card from the same raffle. Like I mentioned earlier, I purchased 3 bundles and the M-bomb. I should have it in a couple of days.

Thanks Gary. I can't wait for TSD items. I have heard Joanna makes very good soap for a reasonable price. Also, I try to support TSD by entering the raffles and have gotten nice items, such as JR #290 Cashmere Brush, a 1961 Gillette Fatboy that I puffed to Lance Corporal Myles Wilson and a Stirling Gift Card that I used to get a boar brush. So, I fortunate that I do well when I do enter these raffles.

i've won some great stuff over the years on past tsd raffles, until lately when most stuff is u.s/comus only for shipping.between that, and currency exchange differences,i no longer bother to enter.after my 2 main threads i used to have were closed here also..

Which threads were those? And why were they closed?

Yesterday's shave started with the Rolls's blade with the frown. I got the frown out, mostly, but failed to get it sharp enough. It's going to sit out for a while until I can get back to my loupe and magnifying glasses, and see what is going on with the edge. I finished the shave with one of my Gillette slant techs. Nice shave, blah, blah, blah.

    Tobs Platinum shave cream
    New Forest 2 band brush
    Tobs Platinum Collection fragrance

For today's shave I went back to the original Rolls's blade. Shave number 7 or 8 5, I think, since honing. I'll look it up later, and correct as needed. Nice shave. DFS, with spots of BBS. Blade shows no sign of needing to be honed, yet.

    Rolls razor
    Shavemac D01/Wolf Whiskers brush
    SV Cosmo soap

cool shaves:cool: and pic Ryan.my original "vintage gillette shaves" and "finest gillette razors" threads that i started.one had over 10,000 post in it.too much sotd in the razor one apparently.happened when you know took over.i have them up again with no issues but felt i was unfairly targeted.no big deal now but i was pissed at the time and wanted all my content removed from the forum.

Something similar happened with @Darkbulb and he more or less completely left the hobby. That was an unfortunate loss. As would be your loss. You bring a lot to these forums, and your presence is appreciated.
