Well this watch made by gillette looked interesting. $25? Seems ok lol but i dont wear watches Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I haven't bought anything in awhile but I rolled the dice on this. If I am lucky it is an E1, if not it is definitely an early model Type E2.
Yes....I'm a sucker and a weak one at that. Tatara throwed me a 15% off code today and I could not resist. I tried to resist but I failed. On the way in......Tatara Masamune with both plates. I already have the Nodachi which is a beast. This one is supposed a lot tamer.
It showed up on E-bay. This one appears to be the updated version. The guy said he used it two times and liked his carts better. I have a tracking number but it has not made it to post office. I'm too impatient .
The answer is it is an E2 but one of the best kept secrets of E2 razors as you will see. For all practical purposes it is an E1 with a rounded spring. Everything is identical otherwise including how they should shave compared to each other. This one has never been formally documented as specific E2 variant until recently plus it won't cost you the same as buying an E1. The E1 is on the left.
I've had a few of those early Schick E2 razors in boxes and sold them. But I still have one boxed with the fake blade in the razor and instruction sheet in excellent shape, that's a keeper. Also another unboxed in great shape, selling that one. Also a Canadian version in case, that one I've used.
They are more rare than E1 razors but not considered a collector's item like an E1. They made E1 razors from Dec. of 35 - 37 and made these particular E2 razors for only 6 months or so in 1937. Even though they are more rare the E1 is more scarce when it comes to finding one. If they were better documented and hyped (think Gillette fat boys) they should sell for more than they do right now.
Ordered my Dovo "100581 Best Quality" 5/8 straight razor last night. Impatiently waiting now. Interestingly, their BEST QUALITY razor is also their cheapest razor! Gee, who'd buy one of their higher-end razors if the quality was LOWER? "Best" is, after all, an absolute judgment, and Dovo should know the quality of their own razors... so I trust their conclusion. Only the Best for me! - Bax
