I has an interesting shave today because I had to do 3.5 passes for this shave. Normally, I do 2 to 2.5 passes and I am good to go.. I will explain later. @Hogie, I dry load the brush by lightly tapping 8 to 10 times into the puck and start lathering on a wet face. I do this so that I don't use up more soap and the puck doesn't get wet. Cryogen loves water so hitting the tips with water a number of times is necessary to get a nice lather.
I picked the Barbury brush because it has great backbone that easily enabled me to use the dry tapping method and to work the soap on my face.

I did 2 passes and the results were that I still had rough patches. This was the first time that I didn't get a decent shave on two passes and I attribute it to the fact that the blade was not sharp. It only had 2 shaves on it prior to today and I was surprised that I didn't get three. So, I put in a new blade and did another against the grain pass and an extra half pass to get a BBB shave. Did get a tiny weep on the left corner of my mouth on my second pass, but it disappeared without any intervention on my third pass. I guess the menthol closed it up. Lol!

The alum gave some feedback on my neck which I expected with 3 and a half passes, but it was nothing major. Splashed on the witch hazel and that cool, matching aftershave and I am pleased with it. I am also wide awake. Lol! AS I am writing this, I am still feeling the effects of the menthol. Enjoy your day guys!

3.5 passes with a shavette. Joe, I'm afraid you may be slipping.

It was still a great shave. Have a great day!

Fine shave this morning. Stoylin Sandpiper passes the test for a winter shave that works in the summer as well. I'm getting VERY low on the Sandpiper aftershave, with still a fair amount of the soap left. Excellent work at the Loading Dock with the Stoylin No-Name brush. I had more soap than water, but I'd rather it be that way than the other way around. 2 pases. No Cuts, Knicks, or Polkka-dots. The only trouble spot was, and I sound like a broken record here-the nasty small section at the jawline under the right ear.Maybe I should START future shaves in that area. Or just put extra focus there. Sandpiper is such a great Stoylin scent. Super-duper excellent.

    Screwtape A Shaving Butterfly

Tuesday evening August 23 - sort of Adjustable and Artisan August

Razor: Supply 2.0 matte black with SE comb plate / Supply Black Label injector blade (19)
    Brush: Simpsons Chubby 2 Synthetic
    Soap: MWF
    Post: Osma alum, rinse

A bit late posting this shave...

My last shave was last Tuesday morning, so a few hours more than a week's worth of stubble to mow. As usual, one pass left me looking reasonably presentable. And a few cleanup strokes on my neck had everything completely shipshape.

The blade is still doing fine. No complaints at all from the alum.

Hope everyone has a good week!

Nice shave with the Star 1912 model. I decided to try the TOBS I just got and I really like this one! Really rich cream! It felt so nice painting it onto my face with the brush. Very pleasant. I may use it again tomorrow with the same brush! Theo watched me for a short time this morning running the water to get it HOT!

    Razor - Star 1912
Blade - GEM Persona (8th shave) still sharp!
Soap - TOBS "Mr Taylor's Shaving Cream"
    Spoon for measuring soap
I used Proraso White pre-shave (not in pic)
    Brush - Classic Shaving synthetic
    Post-shave - Thayers toner & Geo F Trumper skinfood
    AS - Pinaud Clubman "Vanilla"

Not a lot of beard but, I wanted to shave. It is always very pleasant when I use the Star 1912. I really like the scent of this TOBS. Easy lather with just a little water in the brush. I pre-heated the bowl and brush. Washed face while bowl/brush warmed. TOBS is always easy for me. Uneventful 2-pass shave with no cleanup WTG & ATG. No cuts, nicks, or weepers! Alum bar was nil on the feedback. Smooth!

I plan on using this soap again tomorrow and the brush too. I need 2 more shaves with this blade to bin it with 10 shaves so, I will use the Featherweight tomorrow. That one can bite me if I don't pay attention. Maybe a Micromatic on Friday to finish the week and that blade. Back to the Hawk for the weekend and see if I still have it dialed in.

Very nice shave Paul. Although I didn't care for Sandpiper, I agree that it can be used year round. The same can be said for Stirling Sandalwood. However, there are seasonal purists that would only use those scents during the Fall and Winter months.

Another possibility is that there may be instructions for your particular phone on youtube as far as how to use all the applications, namely taking a picture and what file is used to retrieve it.

Wonderful shave, gear and pics Hogie. I have never tried TOBS, but creams are really easy to lather. Enjoy your day.
