The spoon idea looks good. Thanks.

I had a passable shave with "The Emperor" but, it is boxed back up now. I will finish the month using the Slim.

Razor - Vikings Blade "The Emperor" set on 6
Blade - Feather Hi Stainless (3rd shave)
Soap - Chiseled Face "Orange Creamsicle"
    Pre-shave - Proraso Green menthol
    Brush - Simpson Commodore
Post shave - Thayers Toner "Rose Petal" & Geo F Trumper Skin Food
    AS - Pinaud Clubman "Vanilla"

I guess I don't like this razor. I got no cuts or nicks but, I did get some feedback from alum bar. 2-pass shave WTG & ATG with no cleanup. I like the Meiji razor better. It is same head but short handle and it holds the setting better than this one does. The adjustment ring loosens up and I am not sure where the setting is. I will finish the month using the 1967 Gillette Slim to finish this blade.

No cuts, nicks, or errors but, I got a little feedback from the alum bar.

Paul, I don't think he did. Hogie is relatively new and your episode was a few years ago.

You're welcome. You can use a plastic spoon or a plastic knife. If you decide to use the plastic knife, then I would hold it with thumb and forefinger by the handle/knife interface and scrape the soap.

It is a shame because it's a nice razor. Originally, I didn't like my Van der Hagan razor because it was too mild for me. However, I have grown to like it because I used a steeper angle to make it more efficient. Maybe that seems 5he way to go with your Viking razor.

The adjustment ring becomes loose while shaving and can move from 6 to 9 with the ring slack. It can be reset but, it's not practical while in the middle of a shave. The other Vikings Blade is not as bad. This one seems to do this to me every time I use it. The Slim is much more pleasant to use. As far as adjustables go, the Vikings Blade is economy class.

I just found out that services were canceled this evening, but I still decided to shave because it looks like I will be meeting friends in my local area for ice cream and to stroll by different shops overlooking the Port Jeff Harbor.

I decided to use the mild VDH razor because I have very little stubble. I haven't used my favorite brush in some time so it also needed to make an appearance. This brush is soft, but it is not floppy. I picked the Warrior soap because I want to Edmund Fitzgerald it and the scent is mild. I bloomed the soap over night with the lid closed and I got a nice preshave to prep my stubble. Loaded the brush to produce a slick, low structure lather. Looking at the container, it looks like I may have only a few more shaves with it so I will continue using this soap until it is gone.

Did a 2.5 pass shave without any drama for a BBS shave.
I am happy to say that there wasn't any alum feedback. It truly was a close, comfortable shave. Finished with my usual application of witch hazel and the Pinaud-Clubman Classic aftershave. I am good until tomorrow night for my next shave. Have a great afternoon.

It has just occurred to me that a large part of the luxury of the Turkish Shave that I received was the barber's use of the brush to massage the lather into my bristles. He use a relatively large (not giant Omega tall) boar brush. I'm thinking I'd quite like to acquire something similar to change up from my use of the Yaqi Tuxedo that I use every shave. Do you gents have any recommendations as to any good size boar brushes that have good face feel and not an enormous amount of backbone?

Time does fly, I suppose. It was at least 5 years ago, as I was trying to get a ride home from my Mom and her partner. She's been dead now for 5 years. Good point.

My Omega Pro 49 is soft and there's very little backbone. Obviously, I have the brush over 3 years and it is definitely broken in to feel that way. In the beginning, it was scritchy, but I would say after 15 shaves it loosened up quite a bit. Also, it is pretty inexpensive which is definitely a plus.
