to be honest i wouldn't know the difference.my first regular use de was the flat plate rocket/aristocrat jr that you like.probably not a starter either when compared to a tech.:):eatdrink047:i will be most careful with it,no work day shaves .

We all make decisions on how we shave. However, the main agenda of this thread is to incorporate the vast knowledge that is given here to improve our shaves. This means to change our bad habits to good ones. Personally, I don't want to cut myself shaving so I made sure to tweak my technique to minimize it. There's no reason for you to cut yourself everyday or every other day. You have been given great advice over the years to prevent your frequent mishaps, but somehow you either choose to ignore it or you just physically can't do it. I am guessing the former, despite your limitations. We love you Paul, but we don't want your face to become a road map. We are concerned that you really will severely injure yourself.

    Good day Gents,
a fine way to end the August.
Great lather with a fine brush and a smooth heavy shaver.
Matching Bleeker St edt inspired splash to finish.
    Awesome.

I used an adjustable once, maybe arko, don't really remember,
but it was a fine August all the same.
September should be a little cooler, both weather and gear wise,we'll see.
Maybe a shavette shave in the near future,at least a pass or 2;)
For those who thought i would never change,well..
    you are mostly right.
but i still have and use a brit valet VC3 ,and a G "66" injector for good measure.
Been a great month hanging with the best,
    Have a fine afternoon everyone.

my monobilt was one of the coolest design razors i owned, and a fine shaver also.i eventually passed it along due to one minor hiccup.the center pin diameter was slightly larger than the center hole in any modern DE blade, giving the blade edges a slight wave when fully tightened.although it didn't effect the shave in any measurable way,my OCD brain that always checks for blade fitment when loading knew it,so away it went.i don't like to modify blades to fit anything and didn't have the heart to grind down the pin to a smaller diameter.:)

SE Shave # 275 - Affronted August Soap - Weekdays

    Rating: 2.5 / 5

Razor: Drew Dick 7/8” Quarter Hollow Purple Heartwood
    Gem Feather (Bullpen Relief)
    Blade: GEM Stainless
Brush: Strike Gold Shave Minion 24 mm Badger
Lather: Bufflehead Small Batch Nashville MFP
    Aftershave: Floid Genuine Vigoroso
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Humphreys Cucumber Melon Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

Today was the first time in a very long time that I had to call I. The bullpen. The DD straight razor which usually delivers stellar shaves lain a dud. The last time I used this razor was in the month of July. It delivered a fabulous shave. Today the blade did not remove a whisker. For the life of me I could not figure out why. Perhaps I inadvertently dinged the blade at some point.I put a call into the bullpen to the sound of trumpets.

The Gem Feather recorded an epic shave. The Bufflehead Small Batch MFP is a very nice soap with a clean scent. I have not been able to find a scent description as the artisan is no longer in business.

I proceeded to refresh the blade on the stones with a 1K, 8K and 12K progression. Tomorrow will be the moment of truth. The blade passed the hair test on the forearm.

I hope you have a great day gentlemen.

Great shave Joe. That's kind of odd that a straight would suddenly crash when your previous shave with it was stellar. Usually, the blade gives you a warning that the edge is starting to degrade via pulling or tugging.

I think focusing on reduced pressure and a slower pace, you are supposed to enjoy the entire process, may lead you to a significant reduction in the Crimson shedding. Of course you may like that -especially if you have Transylvanian ancestry. :eatdrink013:

Once you get that under control you can then be comfortable giving it a grade of OOTWE.

You can do this my friend.

You're wrong about how I respond to the advice you all have been giving me about avoiding cuts. Do you ignore when I have Outta This World Excellent Shaves? Sometimes they are just that, other times, not as good. I've never severely injured myself shaving, and certainly I hope I won't. I love my shaving moments. After getting cuts, Knicks, etc....I don't just quit shaving and throw up my hands and grow a beard. Shaving is vital to my appearance, which is why I do it every day. You're right, I do have limitations pertaining to shaving, but I just go with a "Give it all you got" attitude-especially the last 3 words. I do give it "all I got"-the results aren't 100% always, although of course I'd like them to be that. It bothers me when you say I've been given great advice here and it appears I've been ignoring it. I KNOW I've been given great advice-no need for anyone to keep repeating that. It's up to me to follow that advice, and my limitations make it hard for me to that more often than not. "All I got" is what you get from me and sometimes the results are great, other times not so great.
