when your shaving downward on the cheeks use your other hand-thumb or fingers depending which side if you're a one handed shaver- to pull up on your temple area above the lather.

    Growth: Two day beard.

Prep: Warm shower: Stirling Sheep bar soap

Pre: Washed face with Stirling Glacial unscented pre-shave soap then reapplied before lathering.

Brush: Rudy Vey custom tulip design, lapis resin handle, Muhle 25mm STF knot, loft set at 55 mm
Soaked the brush in my customized Dirty Bird Pottery shaving brush scuttle as this knot benefits from soaking even though it is a synthetic knot

Lather : Razorock XXX Italian shaving soap

Blade: Kai Captain Titan Mild (D1)

    Razor: Razorock Hawk V3
    Base Plate: Standard
Handle: Razorock Haloed UFO (first pass)/Barber Pole (second pass)

Post: unscented Stirling witch hazel and Trumpers skin food (sandalwood)

Did a two pass shave. Since this was my first shave with a razor of this type, I decided to go with an AC style blade that had worked well with my barber razors: Kai Captain Titan Mild. It took a few moments of thought concerning how to use such a wide razor head with a DE handle but decided to jump in and see what happened. Thoughts of shaving with a windshield washer blade came to mind (ha ha).

The first pass with the RR haloed UFO handle. I was impressed on how comfortable the shave was. I was very impressed at the comfort of shaving my mustache area which has at times been uncomfortable to shave with some razors. The first pass was not as close as some more efficient razor/blade combinations but definitely respectable. Shaving south/north diagonal on my neck left me unsure of my grip with the haloed UFO handle and the weight of the razor head so for the second pass, I switched to the RR barber pole handle. I did wind up riding the bar on that south/north pass as I went under my chin as felt a little scraping action which lead to razor burn after the shave.

I will have to figure out how to maintain a correct angle as I handle that curve (and the mustache area). I had a weeper in the crease between my bottom lip and chin. Next time, I will use my tongue to flatten out that entire area so there is no dip to shave through. I had not used skin food for a post shave in a very long time and I felt a burn in a few parts of my face and neck. Definitely post shave razor burn on my neck under my chin and maybe my mustache area (but not as much).

For the first time ever using an AC blade in a DE form factor razor, I think it was a success. I would say this was probably a DFS. This razor will definitely meet my goal of a way to use up my extra AC blades.

Special thanks to @palmolive fox for letting me use his shave summary format. :D

Great shave and an excellent first post David! You will dial in the razor the more you familiarize yourself with it.

    Thanks Joe!

    I appreciate it.

Hopefully I will have better pictures as well. :)

I was too lazy to pull out the DSLR where I would have more control over depth of field and exposure. Maybe a future shave.

I really like my Hawk v3. I have the standard and the Open Comb plates. The open comb needs more care with. Ride the cap.
