I am finally beginning to feel more comfortable with the open single edge razor. I agree with you about the Kamisori style design. I prefer the fixed handle over the hinged scales, although I have not really practiced with one; focusing on one type right now, and it is going well. No blood since the beginning of the month! I even got a second pass in once or twice in the last 10 days.

Razor came but, the sale was mis-leading. It was for a GEM Jr but, he sent me a Daskeene! So, I will now have 2!

Normally, on Etsy, when I click on what I have bought, it takes me to the item. For some reason this time it didn't. Odd....I did originally purchase a Damaskeene but, when I clicked on photo, it took me to a page with a GEM Jr. I thought I had messed up, so I purchased another!

I will try it out tomorrow. Very similar to my Star 1912

Bowl: Home Bargains Stainless Steel Side Bowl.
Lather: Bath House Spanish Fig & Nutmeg Shaving Soap.
    Blade: Dorco Titan. (D1)
    Razor: 1960's Gillette Slim Twist.

    Post:
Cold water face wash with brush squeezing's, Cold Water Face Rinse. / Homemade (~Autumn/Winter mix~) peppermint lavender, eucalyptus, + Tea Tree essential Oils Mixed Together With 200ml of Care+Witch Hazel. /Herbs of Bulgaria Lavender ASL. /Nivea Men Fresh Moisturising Gel.

    Greetings,

    A relaxing Sunday morning shave.

The Bath House soap provided a wonderful lather in a short space of time. I find this shaving soap similar to MWF which i like very much, it's fragrance to my nose is a very pleasant 'Spicy' scent which is a great autumn/winter soap, but i use it if and when to my fancy not just for the colder months of the year... Another soap that gives a fantastic post shave feel.

The 1960's slim twist was my first vintage Gillette DE razor which was kindly passed on to me by a friend of the family. I've said this on many occasions, it still amazes me that a near 60-year-old vintage razor can still shave so smoothly.
After the comfortable shaves I've had with the Dorco st300 blades, I've carried on using the Korean made Dorco titan another blade that paired together with the wonderfully.
Like the ST300, the Dorco titan may not be the sharpest blade but, they are smooth sharp & very forgiving.

An enjoyable 2 pass + pick-ups close comfortable shave with no errors to report. Finishing to the shave off with a few small dollops of Nivea Men Fresh Moisturising Gel.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine. ;)

Stay safe and enjoy your Sunday ladies & gentlemen.

Terrific shave Barry. Gillette made wonderful razors and were built to last. Ever time I use one of my vintage Gillette razors, I am simply amazed that they still operate on a high level. Enjoy your afternoon.

Exceptional shave with the Damaskeene. Very much like the Star 1912. Loud feedback as it mows the whiskers down! NICE!

    Razor - 1912-1918 GEM Damaskeene
Blade - GEM Personna SS 4th shave
    Pre-shave - Proraso Red
Soap - Lather & Wood "Sandalwood"
    Brush - Simpson #46 "Berkeley"
Post - Thayers Toner & Geo F Trumper Skin Food "Sandalwood"
    AS - Pinaud Clubman

I had one of the most pleasant shaving experiences with the Damaskeene. It also says "1912" on the underside. This razor gives good feedback while shaving. So smooth and close! This is an easy razor for me to use and not worry about nicks or cuts. VERY pleasant. I did a 2-pass shave WTG & ATG with no cleanup. Alum bar was silent. No cuts, nicks, or weepers.

The soap created nice lather but, I had to work at it. I had a dab left after rinsing bowl so, I put it back into container. Really THICK soap but, I would not try blooming it. I use my spoon to measure a dollop

I LOVE these vintage SE razors! "GEM Cutlery Co."

I hope all have a pleasant day!
