that's interesting..fathers and grandfathers,that makes sense.twice removed..that almost makes straights and de shaving cool/ different choices instead of just regressing back to older technology if you know what i mean..

Tuesday September 13 - Single-edge, Supply, Semogue, Stirling September

Since S is for September, I went all-out today.

I was never happy with the Semogue SOC badger brush. The cherrywood handle is beautiful, but the badger knot always seemed too thin, wispy and floppy. Jason @jtspartan kindly reknotted it for me with a Tuxedo synthetic knot and it is now one of my favourite brushes. It did its usual excellent job face lathering the Stirling sheep soap.

It has been a couple years since I used Stirling, and I had forgotten what excellent soap Stirling makes. The sheep soap with mutton tallow and lanolin is especially slick with a superb post-shave skin feel.

Two passes had me nearly BBS. The blade wiped away the whiskers as if they weren't even there -- I definitely should have changed out the last blade well before its 21st shave...

No complaints from the alum. A bit of burn from the alcohol-based splash, but then the other ingredients quickly went to work. Another quality Stirling product.

I am now clean-shaven, refreshed and smell like I am ready to head out into the Big Timber to do some Lumberjackin'.

 

it sheds a different light on the subject.a more positive light.a different way to shave with more benefits,not just rebeling against the machine.its funny that this lightbulb just went on..

Awesome shave John. I have the Semogue Owners Club Badger Brush. Although I only have 3 badger brushes,, it's my least favorite badger. Every one of my badgers are latherhogs, but I have to work a little harder with the this one. Have a great day.

My apologies for not being more involved. This last week has been crazy. Trying to finish up a project around the house.

Awesome shave this morning and I believe the SE1 edges the Hawks out just a little. Two very nice passes.
