Today was my first shave with the newly acquired Union Cutlery straight razor. Prior to it’s maiden voyage I gave it several laps on the CrOx strop, linen and leather. I did my usual three pass shave. I was rewarded with a super smooth, close and comfortable shave. I am 7 hours post shave with an Uber smooth face to boot.

The Declaration Grooming/Chatillon Lux soap, toner and EdT had me smelling real good for an annual breakfast of retired teachers. It was very nice to meet up with fellow colleagues.

Now, when I use that towel, it will have his fur on it and I will get it on me!

 

I drove all the way there and there is a sign in the door "Closed for renovation" I have no idea for how long....but, on a positive note, my parts are in for the bike!

 

I told the guys at the jam today that I shaved this morning with a 100 year old razor. One of the guys was fascinated. One loves his electric, and the last is growing his beard for the winter...LOL

Wow! That is not a good sign. The double entendre was unintended. I guess you are going to have to call them to see if they're open before you make that trip. Hopefully, it remains an Italian restaurant with the same owner and staff. Usually, when you say a closed for renovations on the door, it means that a new owner wit a new business will replace the former occupant. I hope that's not the case there.
BTW, congrats on finally getting your parts to your motorcycle.

 

Next time, bring out that 100 yr old razor to show them. I bet that would prompt an interesting discussion.

Day 30 has arrived! Today was my 30th shave with my Focus R28 shavette. I used the same brush and soap, too. Unless I have forgotten some, I think I ended the month with six nicks or cuts. I think most of those were in the first week. Any after that are attributable to me being in a rush or being distracted. I'll blame the kitten for one of them, since she jumped up on the counter next to my sink but couldn't quite make it... I had to catch her. Ow. Anyway, the month is over, and I believe I've got a lot better handle on using this shavette, for sure!
I'll probably go back to an open comb DE for October, but then I plan to start another 30 days with my Salamander SR.

congrats on the great progress.the muscle memory you have gained should improve shaves with other razors..

 

thank you Joe.all the ducks aligned,i was pleasantly surprised.i have been trying different procedures to lathering different soaps.damp brush,heavier load,and slowly add water really makes a difference with this soap.

 

Stirling SEptember -- Asylum Injector

Second day with the Aslylum injector. Got a BBS on both face and dome in two passes. This "injector" is a keeper (even if it doesn't receive an injected blade).

The Tsuka is another winning Stirling scent!

 

Congrats Bax! You will continue to get better every time you use that shavette. You have achieved a skill that most men dare not to venture. Welcome to the world of open straight razors.
