    Lather Catcher Shave. Excellent!

Razor - 1907 Ever Ready "Lather Catcher"
Blade - GEM Personna SS 8th shave (I may even get at least one more shave from this blade)
Soap - Sir Har "Classic Barber"
    Pre-shave - Proraso white
    Brush - Simpson "Commodore"
Post shave - Thayers Facial Toner "Lavender" & Captain's Choice "Venture" balm
    AS - Pinaud Clubman

I just couldn't wait to try this razor and I was rewarded with a most pleasant LOUD shave. Lots of feedback from this razor. It is VERY efficient too! I could have stopped at one pass! I did a 2-pass shave WTG & ATG with no cleanup. I managed to get a small weeper near my adams apple that stopped on it's own. Very pleasant to use this razor so, I will use it again tomorrow if I need to shave at all! I would say it is a bit aggressive. I used no pressure at all. You can definitely feel the blade. I am not sure if I got the weeper due to the blade getting dull or my being a bit careless. I will give the blade one more shave tomorrow. 8 shaves is pretty good!

I bloomed the soap with HOT water. Cool morning so, the warmed bowl and hot water made for a nice lather. Sir Hare is easy to lather for me. Whisked in the bowl and also a bit on my face. Face lathering is nice and builds the lather even more. I hated to see this shave end! Alum bar gave minimal feedback. The weeper stopped on it's own. No sting from the Afer Shave.

Everybody should try a shave with one of these. VERY nice!

Everything went well with this morning's shave. The razor is appropriately 130 yrs old and mowed down my stubble like it was nothing. I bloomed the soap to bring out the scent and it a nice, clean scent. However, it's not a hit you in the face scent. Of course, the lather's performance was typical of Stirling soaps.
Two passes without pickups gave me a smooth, close and comfortable shave. There wasn't any feedback from the alum. Finished the shave with my usual postshave routine. Have a great day gents.

Thank you Joe. The Gillette guard is manufactured in India and yes it's an single blade open comb, which doesn't clog up as some of the multi blade cartridge offerings do...Gives an acceptable DFS ,wonderful for headshaving. Enjoy your day.

Terrific setup and shave Eric. I agree that the Blackland Vector is a premium SE razor. I have been told that it's like a squeegee going across your face and that it is quite a smooth shaver. Enjoy your day Eric.

    Growth: Two day beard.

Prep: Warm shower: Stirling Sheep bar soap

Pre: Washed face with Stirling Glacial unscented pre-shave soap then reapplied before lathering.

    Brush: RV 25 mm STF

Lather : Razorock XXX Italian shaving soap

    Blade: GEM Personna SS (D2)

    Razor: Blackland Sabre
    Base Plate: L1
    Handle: Blackland Sabre

Post: unscented Stirling witch hazel and PAA Mysterium Serum

This is my second shave with the Blackland Sabre and L1 plate.

I did two passes with touch ups for the mustache area and chin. I only had one nick and it was in a curved area between my lower lip and my chin, off to to the right side (same nick spot as the previous shave). I am learning that I really need to flatten out any curves where I am shaving and stretching the skin is a good idea. Next time, I will flatten out each area under my lower lip as I shave there.

I did WTG and XTG (from both directions) across the chin and that took care of the chin stubble and razor burn from last shave. I also avoided blade buffing and took slower/longer strokes with the razor. That worked well for all areas other than the mustache area.

The mustache area is still a puzzle for me. I cannot seem to get a close shave under my nose with this razor without having razor burn. I tried shaving WTG and XTG but there was still quite a bit of stubble. I have to resort to buffing in that area and that helps some but leads to razor burn. I have never tried ATG in the mustache area but I am not sure what else to do (other than using a different razor).

Excellent post and shave Daniel. I don't recommend the ATG or Fool's Pass on the stache because that will give you weeps and irritation more so than the other two passes. When I do my stache, I go north to south (WTG) and east to west (ATG) just like you, but I do a third pass which is going ATG but with the edge approximately on a 45 degree in relation to the lip line. If that doesn't do it, then a light 4th pass going with the grain. I do this whether I use a safety or a straight. However, it is rare for me to do a 4th pass on my stache. There is a saying, don't chase the baby, but let it chase you.

    Thanks Joe!

    I appreciate it.

So you would go WTG for the first pass (North to South). Then go XTG (East to West). Then go XTG, 45 degrees angle from the nose to the top lip (North to South)? Or for the third pass are you going 45 degrees ATG from the top lip to the nose (South to North)?

I tried WTG (North to South) then 45 degree (North to South) then I wound up doing more buffing WTG (North to South). I don't remember if I went straight East to West or not.

    Thanks!

2nd pass is straight up East to West. If needed, then the 3rd Pass has the toe facing approximately NE and the heel is facing SW and final 4th pass is WTG again.

×××Depending on the sharpness of the edge, I sometimes just go WTG, XTG and finally WTG at the end. ×××

The stache area is difficult and you really have to find what works best for you because your beard and skin is different.
