Very efficient razor! 1907 Ever Ready Lather Catcher

I had another very pleasant shave with the lather catcher. It is becoming one of my most favorite razors! Today I did a simple single pass shave and got close enough to stop. I want to be able to shave again tomorrow so, I quit after that! one pass WTG with minor cleanup on jawline. Simply amazing! No cuts, nicks, or weepers. Alum bar was mostly silent. I have binned the blade after this 9th shave. It was beginning to tug a bit.

Razor - 1907 Ever Ready "Lather Catcher"
Blade - GEM Personna SS 9th shave (binned)
    Pre-shave - Proraso "Red" Sandalwood
    Soap - Proraso "Red" Sandalwood
    Brush - Simpson Commodore
Post shave - Thayers Toner "Lavender" & Edwin Jagger balm "Sandalwood"
    AS - Proraso

I am glad I found this razor! LOUD feedback is NICE! Moreso than my Featherweight does!

Saturday September 17 - Single-edge, Supply, Semogue, Stirling September

Razor: Supply matte black 2.0 injector retrofitted with SE comb plate / Supply Black Label (2)
Brush: Semogue Owners Club cherrywood badger refitted with APShaveCo Tuxedo knot
    Soap: Stirling Scots Pine sheep
Post: Rinse, alum, rinse, Stirling Scots Pine splash

Since S is not just for September but also stands for Stale Shave News, I am posting yesterday's shave. I went all-out yesterday -- and repeated my last shave, which was on Tuesday. However, for a change, I actually snapped a pic (must encourage @Paul Turner as his countdown runs out):

    IMG_20220918_074903.jpg

As I mentioned on Tuesday, the Semogue SOC cherrywood badger brush had a beautiful handle mated to a badger knot that was just too thin, wispy and floppy for my taste. (Plus it shed). Several years ago, I sent the brush and an APShaveCo Tuxedo synthetic knot to our fellow 30DCer Jason @jtspartan. He did his woodworking magic, drilled out the old knot and the metal retaining ring - which turned out to be the rim of an odd inward-sloping metal cup - and got the Tuxedo knot to fit perfectly. It is now a great brush.

I actually left the brush too wet this time, and the lather was a bit thin and runny. However, the Stirling mutton tallow soap is very forgiving. As long as you get some on your face somehow, it will be slick enough to shave. Extremely easy to use, and once again, I was struck by the superb face feel from the mutton tallow and the lanolin. I probably wouldn't really need to use any splash or balm with it even in the depths of winter. However, the Stirling splash is an excellent accompaniment.

I only needed one pass to get back to a DFS. This time though, I managed to disprove Supply's "nick-free" boast about its new SE open comb injector razor and accessory plate. I actually bloodied myself in one small spot on my neck. In fairness to Supply though, I was shaving ATG and the spot looks like I might have run over a small pimple or a skin tag...

I was left clean-shaven, refreshed and smelling ready to head out into the Big Timber to do some Lumberjackin'.

I was supervised throughout the shave by my new snowshoe Siamese cat, Uncle Buck. He watched the proceedings with interest, and when I was finished and had washed everything down, he hopped onto the sink to inspect the implements.

In his honour, I am attaching this old Bizarro cartoon. I think it fairly represents his attitude towards his new human staff:

Hope everyone is having a good weekend leading into a great week!

Great shave John. I think Supply states that their SE reduces knicks significantly and that you will get a rare knick. Great pic and a grand gesture to encourage Paul to download a pic of his shave gear. Stirling is one of the best soaps on the market. You also got a touch of Charlie's @wristwatchb cartoon humor. Have a great day.

Thanks, Joe. I agree: Supply doesn't claim shavers using the SE will never get nicked, just that it will be rare. I was surprised because I actually did nick myself today, and previously I haven't done so even when I was actively trying.

Had a great shave. Everything went well. I performed 2 passes without touchups for a nice, comfortable close shave. Yes, I know Stirling Christmas Eve is out of season, but we only have 4 days until the start of fall so it's not such a travesty. Lol!
I didn't get any feedback from my alum block at all. Splashed on the witch hazel and the matching aftershave and I am good to go. Have a great afternoon.
