Nice close shave with the Hawk v3 with standard plate. 2-pass shave with no cleanup. WTG & ATG. Of course Theo had to check things out for me before my shave. No cuts, nicks, or weepers. It's always pleasant with the Hawk. Today is guitar playing day at the senior center with the boys.

Razor - Hawk v3 with Standard Plate
Blade - Feather Professional 3rd shave
    Pre-shave - Proraso white
Soap - Chiseled Face "Ghost Town Barber"
Post - Thayers Toner "Lavender" & Geo F Trumper Skin Food "Sandalwood"
    AS - Pinaud Clubman

Wonderful shave Hogie. I think Theo needs to have his mustache trimmed. Lol! Enjoy your time playing for the seniors.

    Growth: Two+ day beard.

Prep: Warm shower: Stirling Sheep bar soap

Pre: Washed face with Stirling Glacial unscented pre-shave soap then reapplied before lathering.

    Brush: RV 25 mm STF

Lather : Razorock XXX Italian shaving soap

    Main shave:
    ---------------
    Blade: GEM Personna SS (D3)

    Razor: Blackland Sabre
    Base Plate: L1
    Handle: Blackland Sabre

    Touch ups:
    ---------------
Blade: Schick Pro Line P-30 (D1)

    Razor: Razorock Hawk V3
    Base Plate: A
    Handle: Razorock Barber Pole

Post: unscented Stirling witch hazel and PAA Mysterium Serum

This is my third shave with the Blackland Sabre and L1 plate.

Today's shave was a little disappointing. On the positive side, I learned that going WTG followed by ATG worked well on my neck. I also have come to the conclusion that my stubble in my mustache area is too dense for the Razorock Hawk V3 (standard and A plate) as well as the Blackland Sabre L1 plate. I may pick up an L2 plate and see if the Sabre will work for me.

Today I started with the Blackland Sabre and shaved WTG followed by ATG for all areas other than the mustache area. Even though I flattened the one area between my lower lip and my chin, I still received the same nick I have gotten with my previous two shaves with this razor. In fact, I had three nicks in that area, so flattening the area made it worse. I am sure it is an angle thing as I don't have that issue on the other side of my mouth. Maybe changing hands when I shave that area will improve it.

For the mustache area, I shaved WTG (N-S) for the first pass, shaved E-W for the second pass. For the third pass I shaved 45 degree angle N-S. I still had a good amount of stubble, so for the fourth pass, I did another N-S pass. Still had quite a bit of stubble, so I switched to the Razorock Hawk V3.

As a funny side note, I was loading the P-30 blade in the Hawk and thought to myself, 'Wow this blade is too long for the Hawk'. Then I realized that the P-30 blade dispenser had ejected not one but two blades at a time and the blades were overlapping making it appear to be a really long blade (ha ha).

Anyway, with the Hawk blade loaded, in the mustache area I did pass five E-W and pass six N-S which did not reduce the stubble as much as I would have liked for either pass but did do a better job than the Sabre L1 combination. I picked up a weeper with the Hawk in the mustache area.

I did two more clean up passes on the chin with the Hawk as well (N-S, E-W) which reduced the stubble but turned the nick under my lower lip (mentioned earlier) to a weeper. So I think that maybe the P-30 is not as sharp as the Feather Pro and I probably should have used the Feather Pro instead.

So I think I need a break from both the Hawk and the Sabre lest they end up in the classifieds prematurely. I think I am going to switch to my Feather SR for the next shave as I would like a more efficient shave.

Great post Daniel. I find that my 2 day stubble needs a sharp edge, otherwise, I get a sub par shave. Enjoy your day.
