Thanks Gary. It only proves that you don't need expensive soaps to get a good shave.

Thank you, Gary. The Creighton's balm is inexpensive and can be found locally in our shopping centre.
It's one of the few remaining wet shaving products that are still available to buy that hasn't been discontinued without purchasing online. It's nothing special, but it's a good post shave application...Another one i recommend is the Real Shaving Co balm.

A great old school shave. My father & grandad shaved with whatever soap was available. No pre-shave or balm, just a splash of old spice, or brut followed by a few shouts of colourful language due to the alcoholic burn from the aftershave. Great stuff!
I like to occasionally do a shave with bar soap too. The Yardley English soap I've tried in the past with acceptable results. My mature skin loves tallow-based bath/shaving soaps. :love055:

Now that's what I call the old fashioned way of shaving Gary. My father would use bar soap to shave because that's what most men did. I think I will use a bar soap to shave before the year is out. However, I would use a safety razor to do so because I fear the soap would not slick enough to use a straight.

Better shave this morning than yesterday with the same aresenal as yesterdy. Well, a little better. Outstanding goo doesn't get my mustache area too well. Shave soap does better in that persuasion. Better job down at Cactus, as I used both directions(N to S, S to N). South Porcupine looks good (and feels good after the application of the Bill Neumann A.S.). No Cuts, Knicks, Polka-Dots. Hard for me to decide which of my 2 Bll Neumann aftershaves I like better. Ahh, they're both kinda great. Most Excellent for the shave.

I will stick with my "Lather Catcher Sundays" for the weekends. Today could have been better but, I got in a hurry. I wanted to get to the grocery store before it got crazy. I did not warm and soften the beard enuff and paid for it!

    Razor - Ever-Ready "Lather Catcher"
Blade - fresh GEM Personna SS
Soap - TOBS "Mr Taylor's Shaving Cream"
    Pre-shave - Proraso Red
    Brush - Perfecto
Post-shave - Thayers Toner with witch hazel "Lavender"& Geo F Trumper Skinfood
    AS - Pinaud Clubman

I got in a hurry and did not spend enough time softening the 2-day growth. I warmed the Scupper mug and brush with HOT water and warmed face with HOT washcloth (but not long enough). TOBS is always easy to whip to a nice lather. I did a 2-pass shave with no cleanup WTG & ATG. The first pass really tugged and I could feel the irritation with the first face rinse. Re-applied and did second pass that was more pleasant but, the damage was done! Alum bar gave considerable feedback and I had 3 small weepers. Leak stopper took care of them. Nice close shave but, I will not go fast again!

Nice shave and setup Hogie. I am more deliberate when I use a fresh blade, especially shaving the stache area. Have a good day.

I got myself on both cheeks and one on my neck. I am always careful in mustache area.
Time to relax with a cup of fresh ground Wegman's coffee and a cigar!
