    Proraso Red Sandalwood
    Jayaruh #371 Badger
    Gillette US Army Old Type
    Astra SP
    CWR
    Humphrey's Witch Hazel

The Proraso Red Sandalwood Shaving Soap lathered well with the Jayaruh #371 Badger brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette US Army Old Type and the Astra SP Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Humphrey's Witch Hazel. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

very cool.when i got it the gold doors were scratched, but no damage anywhere else.i had a mint nickel version of the same razor that had a broken center bar where the rivet goes.very brittle there should you try to straighten one..;).either way it just made sense to make a usable razor from the 2.:):eatdrink047:did you like the shave?

With the Bolzano blade it felt a bit on the mild side. Not as aggressive as the Flair Tip Rocket, but still a very nice shave.

it's a good candidate for a re-plate. and find the case for it.

it would replate nicely as a personal keeper.the nickel ones are cheap up here and most are in good shape.in gold it wouldn't look right because it was a gold wash razor.and then which case?it's a tough one..

I just realized that I have a spare blue Gillette case. Looks like the same as this Canadian case. The only difference is Made in U.S.A., not Canada. It'll work for now.

it would work just fine.:):eatdrink047:.i did score the razor on canadian soil so i suspect it was a canadian set.brit gold aristocrat jr sets are really rare.

yes sir..that one.gold razors were rare to begin with in england in those years.rhodium was more abundant due to colonial ties.gold was more of a u.s choice, hence the rarity of rhodium plated razors,ie,executive and president.brits had lots of rhodium razors, including the lowly flare tip.

    Art of Shaving synthetic brush
    Gillette Red Tip
    Gillette Sputnik Blade
    Strike Gold “Ike” shave soap
Finished off with PAA alum block and Nivea Soothing Aftershave Lotion

I had forgotten about this Red Tip. I had tried to sell it and had set it aside but the sale fell through. I figured I would try it today. The shave wasn’t that great and I think a primary reason for that was probably the lather. This brush is great for some soaps but it didn’t build a good lather with this one. The brush doesn’t have a lot of backbone and I suspect I probably would have had a better lather with a stiffer brush. (I have had good shaves with Strike Gold soaps; I find them very similar to Stirling.) Other contributing factors were the blade (which I don’t think is as good as some others) and the fact that I hadn’t used the Red Tip in a while and forgot how aggressive it could be.
