Thursday, December 1 Day 14 Arko~~CH2~~Cobra Classic~~Jerry Juice~~Guerlain Vetiver I am over my hissy fit and have a new-found determination. I also discovered a hybrid-ATG neck pass, that does a darn fine job. Now, all I need is for @jtspartan to rustle up some ebony, and knock me out a beautiful shave bowl, which (I hope) will make Charlie GREEN with envy.
I'm not sure why, but I haven't swapped back to the Institut Karite soap I had been using. My last 5 shaves have been with the Arko stick and they were nice. Even though it is only about half a stick at this point, I will probably not finish the rest of it before going back to my current puck. Im trying though.
Day 15 Still easy, peasy here. Apparently a good choice to 3017- a quality lather and scent. I think I’m becoming a bit nose blind to, fwiw.
fine friday arko face lather, smooth 2 passer with the fb tech/polisilver.blade holding up well.one more for tomorrow then binned.we'll see.
I don't think I'll 3017, but I'll certainly join you for a few shaves. I let my Arko stick (now picked) air out for many months. I quite enjoy the scent now that it's calmed down some. I'll report here after.
Saturday, December 3 Day 15 Arko~~CH2~~Cobra Classic/Feather Professional Super~~Jerry Juice~~Oud Assam No denying that today's lather would win "Best in Show". (Assuming anosmic judges) The Cobra is a skipper. There, I said it. I use the exact same blades in my Feather DX and AC WITHOUT skipping. Too bad, because the design is unique and gorgeous. Alum has quelled the slippage issue, although it's a step I would prefer to eschew. Jerry Juice is showing real signs of imminent depletion---so is the Arko---finally. Oud Assam for a cool, December morn.
another fine arko shave in the books.black flaretip/polsilver is a nice combo.smooth efficient but a touch lighter than i'm used to.no issue though.picked up the usual stragglers the techs sometimes don't catch.nice shaver.fine caps it off.awesome.back to arko next wednesday for 3 days..
December 3 Arko Shave # 11 1964 Gillette Travel Tech Gillette Silver Blue DE blade (1) 30 Day Crew LE Poculi handle w/28 mm APShaveCo SynBad flat top knot Arko Alum, Witch hazel, USB and Fine Executive Man aftershave Good shave. The Travel Tech is a surprisingly good razor. I peeled a few millimeters of label off the Arko stick. As you can see, my esteemed Arko setup sits on a dedicated red carpet. Have a great weekend.
Lather: Arko Razor: Focus shavette (face) & Rockwell 6c (head) Blade: Gillette Silver Blues in both razors Brush: TurnNshave Quartermoon synthetic Post: Zingari Man The Merchant Excellent shave... I almost forget just how slick Arko is. It lathered quickly and easily like always and provided a comfortable three passes that allowed minor buffing without my having to re-lather. Now that the scent isn't so strong, it is a highly enjoyable soap with the caveat of my having to rely on a balm or moisturizing splash to counter the tight feeling my skin always gets after using Arko. I almost always use a post anyway, so it's not a big deal.
Sunday, December 4 Day 16 Arko~~Semogue 2012 SE Mistura~~French-Market Gillette #44 RFB~~Jerry Juice~~Vintage Brut So, I abandoned the Cobra Classic and the CH2 Synthetic, because...I had to, if I am to be successful in this 3017 Challenge. I am sticking with the Arko and the Sailor Jerry AS. Indeed, I am re-thinking my opinion vis-a-vis Arko slickness. Best neck-work I have experienced for a while.
more work shifts and more arko shaves..this week. new rfb 2 piece/platinum/mr.ee custom omega/arko/brut..
another fine arko shave.smooth 2 passer with the new rfb 2 piece/platinum combo.brut to finish.top of the puck is smoothing out a bit..
Day 18 The Castle Forbes has held up well after 3 weeks of shaving. No worries about finishing this challenge. The end is in sight…under 10 shaves now, methinks.
