The Colgate Shaving Mug Soap lathered well with the Jayaruh #18 Badger brush. Two passes and touch ups with the 3D GemTR v1 Razor and the Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Pinaud Citrus Musk Cologne. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

 

Friday morning:

First of all a bit of bad news - yesterday I tested positive for COVID although so far I have no real symptoms. However I need to take precautions.

Now for my Friday morning shave report:

Thank God I have my sense of smell and taste so I was able to enjoy the delightful scent of the MITA soap, the lather whipped up beautifully, the menthol sensation, while much less intense than the Glacial version still felt colder than cold enough, and the postshave feeling was great. The Prep gave me lots of additional soothing, cooling, moisturizing care, and the Floid Vigoroso aftershave’s lovely old school European barbershop scent as well as its icy cold menthol kick were a perfect finish. Two passes were sufficient for a great BBS shave.

I made a huge mistake when I was PIFed a Colgate Shaving Soap....I let it sit too long, thus killing the Colgate scent. Will not do THAT again, if given the chance.

Razor : Yaqi Excalibur 50mm AC, Yaqi Milano polished handle- Mfg 2021> tame mid range, simple clamping design, small head parts(I assemble under a wash cloth), works perfect 98% of time for my beard type + a joy to use IMO.
Blade : Schick proline p30(5) sharp & smooth with reasonable longevity for a AC blade. Pairs well with this head.
Soap : Ogallala Bayrum sage & cedarwood- nice Bayrum scent with some clove with excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "Atlantis" 24mm synthetic, excellent lather generator, cloud like soft tips, great splay scrubber + excellent lather painter.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Ogallala Bayrum with sandalwood + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results :CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers= Excellent shave with my Yaqi Excalibur with a Schick proline p30 blade.

I would not classify Jolly Rodger as a bay rum. It does have rum in the ingredient scent but also cardamom, oranges, anise, ginger, and cinnamon. It reminds me of (German mulled wine) which you have probably have tasted before, but instead of red wine it has rum. I do miss my days in Germany at this time of year walking through Christkindlmarkt drinking Glühwein and eating roasted chestnuts.

Neglected blade focus continues with the Derby. Truth be told, I think it has been at least 4-5 years since I last used one. Guess what? It worked just fine in the awesome Cooper. I have really realized through this past month that blade choice matters less and less as the years go on. Are some favourites? Absolutely. Do some need to be sharper? Absolutely. Will they all do the job? At least the ones that I have do.
Today was the last day for the Bon Vivant. RIP old friend…
