First of all „A happy and blessed New Year“ to all of you. May our future be bright, without anger and pain, war and other things.

Here is my first shave in 2023 (01.01.2023)


Razor: RazoRock Lupe SS .95 // Blade: Treet Classic // Soap: The Sudsy Soapery Crimson Red // Brush: Shavemac 173 Synthetic // Aftershave: unrefined Shea Butter

So, this has been the first shave of the year. With a completely new soap to me and a blade, which i ´ve never used before.

Direct from the puck the soap smells somewhat „weak“. Detectable but not a scent-bomb in any means.

I loaded about 20 seconds direct on the soap. Onto the face with the lathery goodness. The scent evokes when lathered up and for my nose i smell Apples and Honey. A bit like red wine. Lovely scent.

The first thing i noticed was the awesome glide…the brush almost slipped out of my hand…never had that ever before. This is a good sign, isn’t it?!

The lather was thick and VERY cushiony and shiny like yoghurt. Took a bit more water and the lather exploded…wow!!!

After the first few strokes the shave felt ok, but nothing fancy. The blade seemed to be not the sharpest nor the smoothest. Pass 1 done…on to pass number 2 (across the grain)…same here…not very sharp nor smooth. But ok so far…

Pass number 3 (against the grain): The blade was pulling and tugging no matter what i tried. At the end i had one weeper and a few red spots.

What is the best way to stop redness? Correct…unrefined Shea Butter. Heals up and my skin loves it.

It was a nearly 100% BBS shave but the way to it was a bit harsh. What does this tell us? Life is too short for bad razor blades…

It’s been a while since I’ve used my Kameelperd soap so today I wanted to start off the new year with it and I’m happy I did. This soap is glycerine based, it has such a lovely coffee/peppermint scent, it lathers so THICK, RICH, SLICK, as well as protective, there’s enough menthol in it to freeze a polar bear out of the North Pole, and it’s very skin friendly. The Prep always gives me fantastic moisturizing and soothing, not to mention how cooling it is, and the Snake Bite aftershave went on icy cold. Finally a little Aramis and I’m ready to chill out here at home with the wife and our daughter. My first shave of 2023 was a beauty!

HAPPY NEW YEAR

I opened the year the same way I closed last year. I missed a bit of the left cheek(embarrassing but will get it tomorrow as I go back to soaps). I didn't do as well down at Cactus as I had thought. Great along Porcupine Alley. No cuts, Knicks, polka-dots. The Paul Sebastian was a pleasant finish. Super Duper Excellent.

Sunday Schick shave, January 1st. 2023, Happy New year!

Razor: Schick injector Hydro-magic i2- Mfg 1954-57, tame mid range, well built and the hydro magic makes it easy to rinse the blade(I like that H.M feature). This razor is mostly carefree shaving and I enjoy using it.
Blade : Personna SS PTFE(7) very sharp, great longevity, smooths out nicely + predictable.
Soap : Yaqi Musketeer Rapier, nice scented soap(Aramis?) + excellent lather qualities. Yaqi Commissioned Master soap creations S.A to make their line of soaps and aftershaves.
Brush : Yaqi "Black marble" 24mm silvertip- excellent lather generator, heavenly pillow like soft tips, great splay scrubber + great lather painter. This brush sure bloomed nicely if that is what a person likes in their badger brushes.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Witch hazel beard area cleanse + Yaqi Musketeer Rapier splash & a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= excellent shave with my Schick injector i2 with a Personna coated blade.
