    Shaving recipe for today.

Prep: Warm shower:/Asda Tingly Mint & Tea Tree Shower Gel.

    Pre:
Cold wet flannel to my face.
Palmolive Naturals Olive & Milk Bar Soap.
    Brush: Omega 11137.
    Face Lather.
Lather: Tabac Original Shaving Soap. (Tallow )
    Blade: Lancet SP. (D2)
    Razor: Wilkinson Sword Classic.

    Post:
Cold water face wash with brush squeezing's, Cold Water Face Rinse./Alum Rub./Cold Water Rinse. / Homemade (~Autumn/Winter mix~) peppermint lavender, eucalyptus, + Tea Tree essential Oils Mixed Together With 200ml of Care+Witch Hazel. / Tabac Original ASL. /L'0REAL Barber Club Reinforcing ASB.

    Greetings,

A wonderful shave to finish my first week of 2023 on a good note.

The Omega 11137 boar brush continues to feel & perform wonderfully on it's fourth outing.

It's been a while since i last used the Tabac duo and as always, the performance from the soap & a/s was astounding, a wonderful slick protective lather from the soap with a classic old school scent from this superb old school duo....I have yet to try the new version of the soap, which isn't tallow based. I still have an unopened refill of the old tallow version which will keep me going for quite some time.

From my first use of Tabac products i was instantly hooked by the wonderful slick protective lather it created & old school fragrance.
It's one of those soaps that i could quite happily use with every shave, but that would become tedious and making it a mundane routine for me which traditional wet shaving should never become...I know some people have 'love/hate opinions on Tabac products The scent isn't for everyone which i totally understand, but for me personally the fragrance comes second besides once i do my cold water rinse the scent of the lather has virtually gone anyway with the exception of Tabac and a few others.

The Lancet SP was a joy to use this morning, paired together wonderfully with non-aggressive Wilkinson Sword classic making an excellent smooth efficient razor & blade duo.

A very comfortable & close 2 pass + pick ups shave with no errors to report. Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of L'0REAL Barber Club Reinforcing ASB.

My face is feeling smooth cool, & smelling divine. ;)

Keep safe, and enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.

Very nice shave Barry. I have not tried the Tabac. I suspect I will not anytime soon as my den is burgeoning with soap. I am not sure if they make samples.

Thank you, Joe. To my knowledge I'm not sure if you can get samples. It all boils down to greed and profit....Tabac is just one example, that have taken out the two expensive ingredients which are tallow and coconut and replaced them with Laurate and other cheaper synthetic ingredients. The price will remain the same and profit margin increased!....I can't comment on the performance of the new vegetal formula but i assume it is equally to the old tallow formula.

From what I gathered, the factory that made the hard tallow sticks Palmolive, Tabac, Speick, Wilkinson Sword, closed down and production has shifted elsewhere. Probably for a cheaper work force. I'm not sure whether other factories lack the machines to make tallow based soaps so they shifted to the Laurate based formula.

Looking around at high street hard soaps in the UK now, there is almost no hard tallow hand soaps left. The only one I can find freely are the unscented/Aloe Vera ones at Lidl,( super-market) and they £1.00 for 4 bars or something. So there is at least one factory who can make good hard tallow soaps at affordable prices. I'm all up for choice, those who do not want to use tallow based soaps should have a choice, as do those who want to use them.

If you do decide in the future that you buy some Tabac, buy a puck refill, which is both cheaper & can be milled down into a bowl. Yours- Barry.

SE Shave # 299 - “First” Razor Shave - SE - GEM MMBT

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip
    Blade: GEM Stainless
Brush: Shore Shave Blue Nebula w/ Paragon 25 mm Boar
Lather: Lakewood Soap Company Prairie Song
Aftershave: Declaration Grooming/Chatillon Lux La Petite Prairie
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

Excellent MMBT shave this morning. I obtained this razor in 2017 from a gentleman in Hawaii. To that point, I had never shaved with a GEM/GEM type razor. To say the least, I was pleasantly surprised.

The boar brush whipped up a nice lather, enough for three passes and a post shave application. The alum report was silent.

I am good to go for whatever this dreary looking day here on LI presents. Hope you all have a great day gentlemen.

Real good shave this morning, on Throwback Thursday. I didn't time the loading action of the Razorock American Barber onto the brush, as it was going pretty good to begin with. In this regard, the brush acted like a "soap magnet". Again, I had to redo some areas along the cheeks that I missed at first. I finally solved the Northeaast Porcupine Alley issue by doing a "North to South" maneuver with the razor. South Porcupine and jawline came out great. Ditto all areas of Cactus save for the Ingrown Swamp. One cut, no Knicks, no Polka-dots. The cut vanished with the cold-water rinse. 2 passes. Nice finish with the Pinaud Clubman A.S. Super Duper Excellent.

Terrific Tabac shave Barry. I have the Tabac stick and I can attest to its sluckness and making an easy lather. I also like the scent. Have a great afternoon.
