that, although discontinued, I like Williams Mug Soap. I get wonderful lathers from it and like how it leaves my face feeling. I also have at least 30 cakes of it and wish I had more.
I have one. It's great soap. Won't use anything else on my linen and cotton strops. For shaving... Not so much.
I can't get lather out of the newer formula, but I love the vintage stuff. I've got a small stash of 8 or 10 pucks
I couldnt get a lasting lather out of the new ( discontinued ) formula no matter what i did. Soaking it, blooming it, using it dry. I tried different brushes, bowl lather, face lather, and every experience was exactly the same. The foamy airy lather just evaporated leaving slickness behind. But I do have approx 10-15 pucks of the vintage stuff and that stuff is great.
It's the soap I've used most. Luckily I heard about it being DCed in time to visit a few of the Wegman's in my town and stock up.
I've always gotten good, slick and stable lathers from vintage WMS. It's not heavy or dense and the post isn't great, but it's among the slickest soaps I've ever used. I've never tried "modern" (which, technically, is now also vintage, but why make things confusing)
