    Razor: Merkur 37c Slant
    Blade: Shark Platinum
Brush: Shore Shave Cool Mint Water 24 mm Synthetic
Lather: Lakewood Soap Company Prairie Song
    Aftershave: Floid Genuine Vigoroso
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
Lakewood Soap Company Prairie Song Balm
Another fabulous 37c shave this morning. Three excellent error free passes to left my face in the category of a BBS. The Shore Shave Cool Water Mint synthetic easily whipped up a nice lather. How about them apples Danny, @Hembree? Such a great looking brush. I say we do a Shore Shave CWM brush focus next week, M-F. Game?

I am sure Joe, @Trigger, is relatively happy that LI has not had any measurable snow this winter. I know how much he misses it. No worries, February is lurking.

Enough of my digressions, hope you all had great shaves which have lead to having an equally fabulous day.

Very nice shave Gary. Is the Floid aftershave different than the Floid Genuine that is Amber in color?

Excellent shave Joe. By the odd chance that you may miss the scent of this soap, as it appears that it’s stock has risen in your scent tolerance, you can always get a sample puck with you next Stirling order. Better yet, our Massachusett friend to have one shipped to you with his next Stoylin order. Just saying!

Wonderful 34c shave Barry. I guess it is a Merkur kind of day as the 37c came out to play this morning.

Wonderful shave Joe. I am happy about the weather so far, but I won't be smiling until the calender says March 21.

Lol! I wouldn't accept a sample of F and H, but if it was given to me, then I would pif it to someone else. The Stirling scents that I like are Satsuma, Barbershop, Piacemza, Christmas Eve, Tsuka, Spice and Bay Rum.
Honorable mentions are Bergamot Lavender, Coconut Lime, and Sandalwood

Unfortunately it's the bottom plate that's bent, visibly. I can still use it, but only on one side.

How does the 34c compare to the 39c?

    Screwtape A Shaving Butterfly

Bit late, but great intro, Joe! I am going with Jumble / Just Shaving January. Among other things, will continue to work at killing off that MWF puck that is still hanging on in shreds around my beechwood tub.

    Screwtape A Shaving Butterfly

Tuesday January 10 - Just Shaving

Razor: Supply 2.0 matte black injector with SE open comb plate / Supply Black Label (4)
    Brush: Simpson's Chubby 2 Synthetic
Soap: MWF shards in Kent beechwood tub
Post: Alum, rinse, Thayers Non-alcoholic Unscented Witch Hazel, Lucky Tiger Face Tonic, Ogalalla Bay Rum Double Strength Bay Rum & Vanilla splash

My last shave was right at the end of December, I think. Over a week ago anyway.

The Simpson's Chubby did its usual excellent job of whipping up a lather from the MWF. The MWF face lathered easily into a thin but slick coating. I can whip soaps or creams until they have a consistency like yogurt, but find this unnecessary for a good shave - a thin slick coating is all that is needed.

Two passes with the razor got me to near BBS. I find a first pass WTG on the face and ATG on the neck works best. With a second pass XTG on the face and with WTG or XTG on the neck to clean up any residual whiskers or stubble if necessary. When I have several days of stubble like today, the second pass is usually needed; if shaving daily or every other day, it's usually not.

    The alum was totally silent.

I often use Lucky Tiger topped with a splash. Today, I tried a mist of witch hazel first, then the Lucky Tiger, and then an old bottle of Ogalalla Bay Rum splash. In my opinion, Double Strength Ogalalla Bay Rum is way too strong - the burn factor is significant. Which is the reason it's now an old bottle. However, with the other two products on first to act as a damp cushion, it's bearable and the result is pleasant afterwards. I would never buy their double strength splash again though.

Hope everybody is having a good week and starting the New Year with some optimism!

The 34c, is a straight bar razor. It is a great razor for both newbies and experienced shavers alike. Some wet shavers say its the only razor you'll ever need. Most people start off with the 34c, it's a great razor for learning your technique and gaining shaving confidence. I used mine for about 5-6 month of wet shaving before I picked up the 37c slant,at the same time a friend of mine got the 39c,but after a while couldn't get along with it,so I ended up buying it from him.

Because you are familiar with 39c, the 34c maybe too mild for you, however I can honestly say the 34c is a fantastic little razor and fitted with the right blade choice can equally stand with the so called top of the range all stainless steel offerings.
    Yours-Barry.
