How long did it take for Personna to realize they were shooting their sales in the foot and pulled the 74?
It was a campaign to erode Gillette's market share, more than anything else. Officially, no more than two or three years. Unofficially, about 5 years. The early Personna Super Platinum Chromes were unbranded 74's. They kept the blade but dropped the 'long lasting' advertising, probably in an effort to get people to toss them weekly, rather than pushing them to 30-40 days.

P-74 [6] Wilkinson Sticky A shedding Peerless red/clear brush and tallow bar soap 2 pass DFS. The Sticky feels good in the hand but never quite gets it done for me, regardless of the blade. 74 is still fine. Followed up with alumenthol Dickinson. a/s: Brut + Avon Roses, Roses
It's possible. However, the blades tended to be more expensive than other brands, so if you tended to be on the tight side with the ol' pocketbook, you might have skipped them.
I say the same about Rolls Razor too, though the 80's and 90's might have been rough on the company...
i agree.gillette took the whole market over with the twin blade ..and the punters took the bait.but if the DE had stayed ..the market would have shifted..and the personna could have been ..you know..
just curious.i think gillette spoilers are the happy medium.p-74 are great long lasting blades.but these blades today only lasting 2-3 seem to be a waste..
