Back in Sept. 2013, I sent off both of my Gillette Toggles to Razor Emporium for revamp and replate service. This one was done in gold and my other Toggle I had done in Rhodium. I also sent in my Gillette Fatboy for Rhodium replating and my RedTip replated in nickel. I have had excellent service and turnaround time with Razor Emporium.

I didn't even know that Supply has an Open Comb plate. I must have missed it. Mine has the 3 different plates, but no OC. How does the OC compare? Does it shave any differently?

They currently have two models, the "Pro", that is adjustable with a dial, and the "SE" that is a single setting with an open comb. The previous models had swappable plates for adjustment. I have never tried one of those. The SE is mild and it's really hard to cut yourself with it. It is milder than most of the vintage Schick injectors I have used. It feels similar to my adjustable Schick on setting 1 or 2. They market it as a replacement for people coming from cartridge razors. I recall that for a while Supply was selling the SE open comb plate separately, but that doesn't show up on their website.

I like the SE -- easy, safe, mild, comfortable. It's not the closest BBS shave ever but I don't strive for that.

Thanks for this. I’m assuming the OC plate is similar to the ‘one dot’ plate on mine…it is a very mild plate and there is quite a difference to the ‘2 dot’.

Today I had my 3rd Shave with this vintage Schick cart, as the one last week went well, when I tested it against the Feather F2 Neo.
Despite having 3 days growth the Shave was quite smooth and comfortable, and I was pleased with the finish quality.The really good
Point is that I suffered from no post Shave irritation, such as I experienced when using Carts many years ago.

 

Thanks Paul. It's one of my favorite brushes, called the "Castillo," which they don't make anymore. I checked their archives and it looks like the made a few different models, based on the chess piece called the castle or rook.
