But just so you know, there aren't 10 of us. One of us didn't think one was enough.

 

Well, disappointment today. This now may be my rarest razor, I have seen very few gold Bulldogs, but the seller apparently did not know what he was looking for when looking for cracks. I may not have this razor long, depending on how the seller wants to handle this. I don't typically post pictures of an un-cleaned razor, but I don't want to clean it if I am sending it back. We will see...

Yeah, I still love it, but when I pay for a razor with no cracks, that is what I expect to get. I am hoping that the seller will just refund a portion of my money, then I would be very happy with it, I just feel deceived.

No, that was a very rare Tuckaway, which never did ship. The seller apparently was selling it for someone else, and they took it back.

 

Well, you're not quite as bad off as me with this set. However, I was able to talk the seller into a $20 partial refund, so I'm pretty happy with the deal. Other than that crack, it's an exceptional looking set.

I am keeping the razor, and not going postal. I will clean it up tomorrow. I like honest sellers.

I guess this Christy is the "rarest" razor I own since no one has been able to identify another one exactly like it. Tom Meyer even checked with the family that owns Christy and they were not sure about it either.

 

My rarest razor is probably one of the two straight razors in the right of the attached photo. Both are from the 19th century, and (I believe) have their original horn scales.




This thread needed at least one photo of a straight!

 

My rarest razor is the "Darwin", which was a competitor to the "Rolls Razor". It came out around 1932 and the one I have in my collection is in perfect condition.

 

Thats awesome!!!!! I want a Darwin. Just because its a Darwin!!! (and 09' is his 200th bday btw).

I did manage to find a cased Hecho en Mexico SS but the rest of your list eludes me. I think the 4 piece techs are relitively rare in general.

How does one define "rare"? I have a number of Gillette razors in my collection. I have no idea how many people have similar razors, but here are two of my favorites.

1958 (D3) Executive



1960 (F4) Toggle

 

This one I have only seen the one I have.. Its a Berkley Custom Shaver.. Its a bit odd looking but uses normal DE blades..
